" I'm fairly certain he was speaking rhetorically. --------- That said I've had an insane amount of scam attempts this league to the point that it was actually difficult to buy an item I needed for my build because everyone selling that item was trying the same scam. I was disappointed to see that the report function topics don't allow for reporting scamming. |

" Accounts are free. It doesn't stop anything. 80% of all trading bots are lvl 12s in the act 2 hideout. So all you really end up having is playing the economy, and plowing maps. And if you want to get anywhere on your character, you are better off mowing monsters down like weeds and just collecting pennies of the ground as fast as possible than any meaningful item hunting. This is part of the notoriety effect. People see all the scamming threads and it generates more interest in scamming from people that didn’t think it was effective before all the attention. You also then get the attention seekers that want to be part of a forum thread. Then there are the people that get off on other people’s misery, and so they too get to see their victims tears in a thread.
Lastly, whenever a topic becomes hot people tend to automatically assume the activity is increasing. That is not necessarily true. The activity of scamming could be staying the same, or even decreasing, it could simply be the awareness level is rising by people making it more meaningful. Just shining a spotlight on it and whining for GGG to “fix it” won’t do jack shit, and will only make the problem (or perception of the problem) bigger. You can’t stop dipshits from attempting scams. You CAN educate the players to take advantage of the tools that are there, and to PAY ATTENTION! In real life you lower your chances of being a target by paying attention, and acting like you belong there. Why then, when it comes to things internet related, do we give people a pass for not paying attention and acting like they have never interacted with another person before. I'm trying my best to understand here : Why not check your item before clicking "Trade" ? There is a reason why the game FORCES you to mouse over item before clicking trade. No, I don't like scammers, it makes me sad when I see players got scammed for 3-5-10ex, but in all honesty... you got nobody to blame but yourself.
Why players "trade" too quickly in this game? You pay currency, you have RIGHT to check the item, if they cant wait, well ALWAYS move to next person, they are not the only one selling that unique or 6l. I played a lot of Legion, hell even Blight I'm playing quite a lot,I'm yet to see any scammer, however I'm still checking item regardless of the price. I dislike trade system, there are ways to improve, however someone getting scammed is really not GGG's fault. I'm sorry if somebody got scammed, I really feel for the lost of that currency, I just hope you learned valuable lesson for the future. Stay sane, Exile. |

Encountered 3 scammers so far. Not that bad compared to other leagues for me.

" The difference and imo the point he was trying to make, is that if you do this in real life, there is a good chance it will have consequences for you. Severe Consequences. In POE it doesn't. It's fully accepted behavior as far as GGG goes. If you can forget about RL morals you can literally do it as much as you want without any repercussions. |

I had few attempts to scam me this league, it was actually 1st time this league.. Even for low currency like 10c
This guy puts t right shaper touch in trade window I put my 10c after I’ll check if it’s t right item with right stats than he cancels trade and puts different shaper touch with lower stats. I’m telling him I want those 1st one he put in trade and he said is only one he had lol, other happened with ring and also with jewels all in around 10c price LOL WTF is wrong with ppl is just a game... " Relax. He's against it, just look at his past posts on the subject. If you want to ignore someone, ignore me. Because if these people would just take 3 seconds and LOOK at the item before hitting Accept, these "scammers" would all but stop trying. And let's say they actually look at the item and it's legit... then the other person swaps it out turning the window from green to red. That means they changed something. So hit Decline and put that person on ignore and report them. tl;dr If you fall for a scam it's 100% your fault. Some people think my tl;dr statement condones the action and they couldn't be more wrong. |
