EU Latency/Connectivity Issues [Deutsche Telekom/1&1]

"
Tried all the same things, no problems found.

But i´m sure thats not the point for the issues, because we wanna have it all the time. But for me there random zones where i have my normal latency.

It's likely that you have high latency to one of our providers but not to another. Could you grab the IP address of the server you're connecting to when you have a laggy instance? It'll be in logs/Client.txt in your Path of Exile directory.

It'll look like this, where x.x.x.x is the server IP:
"
[INFO Client 19828] Connecting to instance server at x.x.x.x:6112

Throw that IP into WinMTR (version 0.9 and higher) and put the output here for me to look at.
"
I have the problem for 4-5 weeks now. Lag spikes of 150-300ms, going down to 40 and in the same second back up again.
Just played a Map. Right after I entered it and walked like 10 meters, I got a 30 sec "freeze/desync" with an 1,8k Ping. After 30 sec the game recovered and I was able to play with 40 ms for 2-3 minutes.

Lags also randomly come and go in the lab. Every few mins it seems to change for me, even within the same instance. Aspect of the Lag confirmed? Fits well into the alternating buff/debuff aspect....

From the MTRs you have provided, it looks like you have intermittent packet loss being introduced between your router and your ISP. I would recommend getting in touch with them.

For the others that have provided MTRs- I'm attempting to reproduce the issue (not a great deal of luck so far). I'll investigate further.

Lags were fine all day and late last night as well (11pm+)
Started lagging around 7Pm today and got worse since then.

It looks like you have some issue with either your router or ISP (heavy packet loss from the 1-2nd hop.

I'm investigating the other reports. Thanks for the details.

dont think it the problem of any user router, isp and so on.... but more on ggg side to solve?

The specific person quoted has an issue related to their setup/isp.

The others I am investigating are problems with connectivity which GGG doesen't specifically control, but we will ask our servers hosts to see if they can do anything.

Lags are gone for about 1 hour now.
Had no problems in other games with PL at that time (where PoE lagged for me). Could stream netflix and play FPS games with 20-40ms. (playing PoE with 10% PL is pretty pointless^^). I'm confused why this is only happening in PoE...
WinMTR shows 0% now just like yesterday evening.

It seems to affect germans only... My ISP is Vodafone, so it doesnt look like a provider issue, since alot of different providers all over GER seem to have this problem.

The first WinMTR you posted showed a problem that was definitively your ISP. The ones you posted now look good/problem free.

Random fun fact:
When I use fra.login.pathofexile.com or the speedtest link in pingplotter it uses the ipv6 address of the server instead of the IPv4 address that MTR would use.

The login server addresses don't actually point directly to our servers, so there's no point in collecting data from those.

Trying to use winMTR to figure this out but it isn't giving me the kind of results I'd expect based on the other posts here? It either gives no results whatsoever or I get a whole column of hostname "No response from host." Am I doing something wrong? :O

edit: Ok, figured it out. Had to disable windows firewall for it to work I guess.

Looks like you are from the US? Not sure why you're posting in this thread.

I had a look at your MTR. It shows 93%+ packet loss introduced between your router and your ISP. You should contact them to see what's up.
Hi all,

I need to collect some more specific information, so we can escalate this further to our hosts and their peers.

Please provide the following:
ISP:
Country:
Gateway:

Run WinMTR to these two addresses and post the results here (at least a 100-count when you are specifically having the issue - if the spikes aren't happening when it's running, it wont show much):
fra-mp.ts.pathofexile.com
fra.ts.pathofexile.com

If you don't have WinMTR 0.92, you can download it from us here.

I will be checking back periodically to grab more info and to update you guys on the progress.

I'm also going to sticky this thread, so look for it at the top.
The datacenter we use in Frankfurt is currently investigating this for us.
The Frankfurt DC has made some routing changes. Can you see if there is any improvement?
