Bye bye POE

I just deleted all my chars and uninstalled the game, i'll come back on the game is released.

This is a really impulsive decision which happened after a ragequit death, which i will probably regret sooner than i think, but i think that it does at least two weeks that im starting to have more reasons to stop than to continue. Here is a summary of them:

- I dont want my chars to be moved to legacy, i started a new witch 3 weeks ago and didnt wanted to stop her. Now that i will be alone in legacy, no point. Im not interested at all to start over everything again, when i know that all i will do will be deleted again for open beta. Plus the fact that another legacy move might happen. It was the third time that i started with an empty stash, the next time i do that i want to be 100% SURE that my chars wont be deleted or moved to legacy for ANY reason.

- Recent changes on energy/shield and reduction of crit chances on wands are hateful, im bored to change and change my build because of constant nerfs, i died again on a reflect and i cannot suffer another stupid loss of 15% xp. This system xp loss when you are playing with tons of penalty leading to countless hours of grinding just to regain what you've lost is unbearable. You could simply lock the player lvl on the max enemy lvl as long as you have not more content, allowing players to do a ladder rush with the current situation is simply really frustrative after a moment.

- The fact that i think that im not really a good beta tester: im discovering that im more looking for an imba build (able to one shoot enemies in party of 6 alone, but nearly impossible to kill) that i will use when the game will be released; than trying to find bugs or helping to develop the game.
All my old chars were designed like that, and i stopped all of them because of nerfs on their specifical skills (a lightning witch, a cleave marauder, and more recently a crit wand witch.). the fact that i immediately stop playing them after a nerf of their skills or defenses or build because i know that they satisfy no more my exigences (unkillable and tons of dmg) makes me think that i should come back when the game is released, i dont help here.
I would also mention that from my point of view any build with 10 or 15% of its passives spent in defenses or mana (in short, all in the damage) is a bad build. I consider that if i cannot put most of my passives in damage, and gain most of my defenses from stuff with at least one offensive mod on each part, i dont want to play. I know that tons of people wont agree with that, but if i cant play like that i dont have fun, i want to do chars that blow everything.
This is a point of view which is generally the exact contrary as what the devs are thinking, and i was appreciating the game because it WAS possible to do that. It is still possible, but as long as the beta will evolve players will find out those last builds and they will be nerfed too.
Thats why i prefer to come back once everything will be nerfed, and once that all the content until lv 100 will be there. At the moment everything is constantly modified, but we dont even now what the lv 100 content will be; so things will probably be modified in the other ways in some cases. It is better to wait that most of the things are balanced before coming back, because it will avoid bad surprises as those i had since 0.95. This was my favourite version, after that one there are things that i dont really appreciate which were added.

- Some things that i dont like in the game:

As i explained in an older thread, it is absolutely not normal to identify some items from Maelstrom of chaos (ilevel 60, level required 60 like a chaos plate or an igniter), and to obtain some stats like +1 energy shield of +3 max mana,... On a such high level item it should be GUARANTEED to have some stats from the second half of the value tiers for EACH of them. For me it is simply a problem of game design. It is inadmissible to obtain level 1 modifiers on the highest item level. There must be something which biases player level and item level.

Exalted orb: a very particular case that would need to be completely revamped. At the moment, you are condemned to fill more and more stash tabs with items which you would like to finish because they have a very good potential since you regaled them, but sad for you you cant because the orb is so rare that youre forced to play in party with quantity stuff to hope that you will see ONE dropping per day of gaming. It is really a bad system at the moment, you have more and more items to exalt but no chance to finish them all somedays. I would like to be allowed to finsh them at all times! Coud it be possible to create a new vendor type, where you give the item to exalt, and where the vendor asks a random price in orb combination to do it? It should at least allow the player to stand a chance to know if his item is worth to keep or not. Plus the fact that currently, when you use one, you need to have a good stat; but in addition (because of the problem of game design described higher) you need to have a good value... How can the rarest orb be the most crappy of all????????

The recent keystones support gems are not a good idea, its not interesting at all in my opinion. I would prefer to see some other types of supports, like a support which would allow to retarget other enemies with a ranged attack, of fire to cold, fire to ligthning dmg gems for example. It doesnt add something new, and i really hope that real new support gems will be added.

Mana. Its again not normal to be forced to convert your shield to mana, or being forced to take tons of mana passives when youre a witch and have 400+ of intel. the only intel amount should be enough if we have some + intel or + mana bonuses on the stuff. Your mana amount/ regen is insufficient at the moment, it is cool to use blood magic on a marauder but discovering that life is more comfortable on a ranger than mana is simply ridiculous. I do not really like this mechanic, it is just in place to allow some mana passives to exist, its just adding complexity in passive tree and is very boring for me. I really hope that you will finally give a real standard mana regen rate, and flasks that finally give back mana when you use them, and not wait that the mana pool fills up even when a flask is active!!! A standard flask should not last more than 4 seconds with the amounts that they give. If i use a potion i want to be able to hit continuously when i use one. I also would like to whine a bit about mana reservation, another implementation that i absolutely dislike.

-The game feels very generic at the moment.
Combats, for example: you hit an enemy and he dies, thats all. Where are blood trails, physics-animated flying corpses, body explosions on crit hits with body parts flying, i want to see liters of blood on each screen i clean! Compared to Daiblo3 you have a lot of work on this side, the game really lacks some elements which makes the fight feel more dramatic and violent. Stats on item: are really generic too, nothing surprising or original there. Classic damage and defense boosts. Not even a small on hit event, or shield penetration, or a chance to add an element to your attack, or something else which would be cooler than the same stats as in all of the other games. Perhaps will it change in the future.
Charges: this was one of your originalites, and even that has been made very generic sadly. Its true that some builds were useless without charges, but still.
The same cannot be said for active gems, some like lightning strike and power siphon are going in the good direction.

All of these reasons, and others that i forgot because im writing this post since 2 hours in a language which is not my first one; are making me want to say goodbye for the moment, and cya again once the game will have evolved a lot.

Couldn't one say that damage is insufficient and is low only to have a reason to add +dmg to the passive tree? How is that different from mana? If you don't like adding utility and survivability with the passive tree that's fine, but it's a personal preference and I for one hope they stay with mine and not move to yours.
Sounds like you're very self-aware, realizing that you may be here for reasons other than testing. Taking a break may be the right thing to get you back into enjoying PoE at a later time.

On the other hand, you seem to have the ability to provide good feedback. You could be a very productive beta tester if you put your mind to it.

Just a few thoughts:

1. This is a beta, dont get used to your chars.
2. You are not supposed to reach max level.
3. Play HC and start to love the DEF passives
4. Orbs are independed from MF (chris mentioned it somewhere)
5. thx for your maru post the other day
6. cya in OB

PS: Yeah charges, they deserve a little bit more usefullness.

Yay, another glass build leaving! If you dont want to spend 15% in defensive passives, thats your fault.

But i agree on many points in your post. Some orbs ive never seen.

I think feeling upset about character wipes during a beta is a bit odd, especially when everyone knows that it's all going to be wiped before release regardless.

Your issues with the "on hit" effects are true, but again... they are still adding in skills/classes/content things like graphical enhancements to hit are probably a bit lower on the priority scale.

But it you feel like you aren't suited to be a beta tester that's fine. Hope to see you back on release.

Happy hunting/fishing
beautifull thread, we feel your love for PoE...
it feel so like the game is the final one and true game that we don't feel anymore in a beta setting...

I want to have my "real" characters so badly...
Hope we'll see you on release!
Anyway the world is always full of other and new pleasure...
... nothing
I definitely agree with Kramerrr about few things. I warn that things are going in the wrong direction for casters for a long time. Race that was so fun to play a few months ago are slowly becoming the only semi-good for the ladder races and quite helpless in Chaos. Of course it is very difficult at the moment to predict how the game will evolve before it's finished. See you on release Kramerrr!
Mirror of Kalandra?
If you feel that attached to your character, then they' have done quite a good job. But i think your problem is getting too attached to the ladder race. Getting killed and frustrated to lose 15% exp.

Build that 1 shot everything and blow everything up with only no defense are the reasons ppl play ARPG, especially this game's default league.

To me, playing the ladder race in default is no different than in HC, the death penalty is so harsh that you could just consider not letting yourself die even once. Playing a build with <15% point put into defense does not seems like the way to climb a ladder.

tl;dr: Treat the default ladder just like HC ladder and than you could enjoy it more.
Unviable build tester.

So you quit, and make a topic about that?
Good for you, when D3 will spin up,i'll most likely will do so as well, but will i make a topic to make it a bigger deal than it really is? most likely not.
No rest for the wicked.
