Tempest Shield Templar?

So I was just thinking of building a Templar that uses Tempest Shield, So I've picked up alot of the block nodes, and I know with a good shield I will be able to get over 50% block chance.

I also get a bunch of Lightning damage nodes and shock nodes, but I don't know which lightning based spell I should use, I like AOE so Shock nova maybe?

I will also be using Molten Shield for more damages and defense.

Can you recommend some other skills to go along with my build?

Also what weapon would I use? Scepters? Or Wands?

I don't really know what else to write down so....If you have any questions just ask, I'll be bumping this thread until I get some good ones.

EDIT: Also what auras would I use? I know that I will have mana problems I always do on every class and build I play, and how do I have enough mana so that my Aura doesn't reserve too much mana so that I can't cast any spells?

There is a pretty popular templar build out there wich also works very well on hardcore that includes Tempest Shield.

It's the Lightning Strike build !

Lightning strike + tempest shield + wrath aura + what ever else you'd want !

Also, for mana: Eldritch Battery works great! You won't be able to use Clarity aura because tempest shield and wrath will take pretty much half of your mana, putting a Clarity on it with the templar's medium mana pool will get you pretty stuck, Eldritch battery will convert your ES to Mana and there you go ! more for everyone :D

I'm more interested in a tempest shield build that doesn't use lightning strike (don't like the skill at all) perhaps TS + Arc main skill + shock nova totem.

Edit : or TS + Spark main skill + Arc totem

Anyone tried anything similar?

I was thinking of this... But I am going to wait until I can get my grubby hands on an Aegis Aurora ^^

Anybody else have some advice....I'm hesitant to start this without some?

u need unwavering stance or an eye of chayula to avoid the stun since shield block is actually a stun animation when u dun have enough max hp, which according to ur build doesnt have enough,

if theres extra points that im using, i m prolly gonna aim for unwavering stance. Although im quite worried that mana will be a problem. and i will be using cleave as my main skill :)

Dafuq is a " Tempest Shield Templar"?
If you revolve your build around a skill that does PIDDLY dmg and only procs on block... you're in for a rude awakening.
If you use a Shield, Tempest Shield is ok. But "Tempest Shield Templar" is some serious facepalm there.

I'll leave my current 1h+ shield build with you if u want to take a quick look...just so I'm not just leaving a unproductive comment.
But really..There's no such thing. nor would kit be a good idea.

I run with Hatred, Vitality, Determination and Tempest shield.
Lighting strike, Blood Magic, Life Leech, Added Phys dmg, weapon ele dmg.
Shield Charge and Conductivity on Blood magic ( as auras + TS reserve 99% of my mana)

This is a common misunderstanding, there is only a stun animation if and only if the attack would have stunned you. block recovery only helps in this situation, and not when your actually stunned.

though getting unwavering stance will help, you wont need it until later levels when the damage gets very high.

also the idea of building around tempest shield, is just silly. tempest shield is a support, the ability itself does not do enough damage and is not reliable enough to actually be your core damage.

you can have it incorporated into another build that uses 1 handed weapons. but in reality the build will be and should be based around the actual attack. not the support.
