So, its time to get rid of Damage Reflect mod on maps

Yeah while they are at it, remove Magic Find and Quantity, both mechanicst that also add only a toxic way of playing, and also make frustrating to play for the solo player.

My reply earlier was sarcastic, since I don't think everyone picked up on that. I don't actually think damage mods should be removed, no shit, and they are entirely different to reflect mods.

However, I still don't think reflect needs to be removed as a map mod, aside from maybe reducing the frequency it appears on 8 mod maps or removing it from unidentified maps. Reflect as a rare mod should absolutely still be a mod, and I'm still pissed off the community managed to cry hard enough for them to remove it. Fuck, I'd be happy with reflect auras back in the game. Same for volatiles, but that's a different argument altogether.

My problem with removing reflect isn't because I think reflect has a good enough justification to exist in the game. If it wasn't already a thing, I probably wouldn't add it to the game. My problem is removing difficulty from the game to appease the people who don't want to play around it. They removed volitiles, they removed reflect as a mod on rare monsters, if they remove reflect from maps then the next thing to go will probably be curses, no regen or the experience penalty. Fuck, I'm surprised people are bringing up reflect before no leech, which is far more of a brick than reflect is. At least you can play around reflect.

And yes, reflect is 100% an aspect of difficulty. Reflect either makes you invest currency into not running it, in this case rolling past it, or it makes you adapt your build so that you can run it, in most cases forcing you to play less efficiently. Being forced to play or do something inefficient is the very definition of difficulty in this context.

They didn't make volatiles easier. What they did was introduce counter-play while also making it more evenly balanced between ranged and melee characters. *old*Volatile on a melee in red tier map with GG mods? Back to HO or standard. That same volatile on a ranged? LOL WHAT VOLATILE. Come on bro, think a little.

edit: Which kinda leads into the point that many people are making in so many words.. Reflect has no counter-play. You either run it or you don't. Who the hell is going to have many gear swaps just to run a single map when you can reroll it. It really does serve little purpose and in its current form is antiquated and should be changed or removed.
I played a phys reflect corrupted reef map on my assassin yesterday, just to remind me how bad it is. Had just leveled and don't care about my /deaths or a lost map, so why not...

1. I recolored my chest and gimped my damage with a lvl 1 phys to lightning.
2. I am immune to my own crits, only my normal hits get reflected.
3. I have 46% dodge, a basalt, a diamond ("defensive" because of 2.), fortify.
4. I have cwdt immortal call with 3 EC (that have 99% uptime due to daresso's defiance).

I managed to kill myself three times to random packs.

Guess I should also have used the reflect pantheon. And used a hyaon's fury instead of a phys sword. And respecced half my tree. And converted the other half with hrimnor gloves (like I don't need the resists of my gloves).

...or I just never play such a map again.

The whole idea of reflect is just stupid to me. Damage reflected from an arrow attack? like what in the meth is going on here.

Spell damage I can kind of understand but melee damage should be reflected with stun and not actual damage.

What do i know though.
Yea get rid of this shit and also the fucking no regen mod. They added some maps mods in the last patches like monsters cannot be slowed below base speed so removing the 2 most unfair and stupid mods for many builds shouldnt be a bad deal.

So...after a day of not getting any maps Zana was on, I buy one to access her, and pic a mission that requires finding the map item to complete.

It's UnID'd...and has a fucking reflect mod on it, making the first thing you do force you to lose 20% EXP AND have no way to refresh her shop to buy more maps.

There is nothing 'challenging' about having the player walk into an situation where they an't even know that they're going to kill themselves simply by playing the damn game. You fucks at GGG may as well add a "lose HP while moving mod" to the pool while you're at it.

Atziri having Reflect is ok, she is a final boss and makes her harder so no problem.
Reflect in specific Rare mobs is fine, but the whole map reflecting is a bit exaggerated

ps: it's not a criticism just a discussion, so no rage pls.

lol, reflect isnt a pbm anymore, at least like it was a long time ago like when the whole pack around the reflect mob was reflect too...
Plus now there's a lot of "anti reflect solutions"...
Btw you can still read mods on maps - and if you do unid maps,
either you can isolate a mob to test it, either softcore may be the solution for you
Really PoE is a lot easier than it was "before"... But still those posts...
IGN : Zakam
And while you are at it, remove temporal chains. I can handle every curse, but this one is just straight annoying.

There are anti-reflect solutions, but the most consistently available one favours characters who don't self cast, which are already advantaged by the rest of the meta because if your totems or traps are doing all the work you can concentrate on avoiding the one shots.

For most characters though the only counterplay to reflect is to reroll the map.

Not satisfying or interesting.
