Question about Atziri's Acuity Vaal Gauntlets

I wonder if the Vaal Pact effect is triggered by Totem crit strike (on Hierophant). When Equiped with 'Trolltimber Spire Cedar Tower Shield', which gives 0.5 life leech from totem dmg

I'll go with no. Your totems don't have your equipment. (I've been wrong before though, and it kind of felt like this.)

I was provoked by a player that claims they do work (Flame totem chieftan). However when i tried them, when killing mobs I don't see any significant life leech increase. And most importantly my life regen goes on undisrupted. I wonder if it is a bug, or they are not intended for Totem characters.

If anything, your totems would be leaching and have Vaal Pact... not you.

You need to deal the crit to gain VP, not your totems. Since you probably have significant investment into crit already, that shouldn't be too hard. Zero damage crits are still possible if you have Ancestral Bond.
