How to play the game in "hard" mode

Want to try this one.
are there any supports and Passives that work with Spectral Shit Shield Throw?

I did a bleed SST duelist in bestiary. Worked reasonably well until high yellow maps (lost interest then).
However, damagewise you're better off with Lioneye's Remorse or a rare pure armor shield that additionally to that life roll has its innate life roll.

So, which supports work:
Vicious Projectiles
Chance to Bleed
Brutality
Damage on Full life
Faster Projectiles
Pierce
Iron Grip

Herald of Purity should also add damage to SST.

Of the skills I didn't try playing yet, Spectral Shield Throw seems like the worst - and it intrigues me.
looked up a build called "Captain Americlast" and it seems impressive, until I looked at the shield he's using, and realized it's Mirror-tier.

my current attempt is to use
without any investment on the Passive Tree and only this gem setup.

it's horrible. I love it. Aqueducts becomes Ninja Gaiden.

Mathil did a SST build that was "good"

I don't know if that was Mathil, but someone also made an elemental SST that could clear Shaper rather well.

I have some Freezy Mines you could try out when you get bored with that.

That's the "Captain Americlast" build I mentioned.
Mirror shield.

@DER_PSYCHOPATH, I always confuse Freeze Mine and Frost Bomb. One of them lowers regen, which makes it great against Map Voll and Hall Of Grandmasters.
The other... I'd rather throw shields.

First of all I should say I haven´t played this build.

but things that should work.

projectile damage
attack physical damage
physical attack damage while holding a shield
generic attack damage (from sources like frenzy charges, new berserker rage mechanic, current raider ascendancy)
generic physical damage
generic attack speed

Added damage of all kind, poison damage related supports should work too (works in PoB).

Poison support gems and empower (it scales quite well with increased level) should work too.
Heralds/Hatred therefore stat-sticks too.

I can imagine building in different ways.
Physical bleed, Elemental conversion, around poison + adding Herald of agony, maybe even around ES shield and crit damage ...

It shows decent numbers in PoB (over 150k on my TR/poison bower with just remorse shield and supports which is not really built around that skill) but I am not sure about these PoB numbers (f.e. it scales via Point Blank there).

Although I am not 100% sure of all the mechanics behind it should be possible to build smth good.

You do realize though, that your SST doesn't need to be socketed into your shield, right?^^

Of course it's horrible on a 3-Link^^

With a decent 6-Link Setup SST is actually totally fine clearwise.
