Masters cartographer SEXTANT 3th grade math = not worth investment???

Hello.I am not a expect in this game,so I guess will need some explaining.Using the master sextant on red tier map in my opinion is not worth.You can't block much anymore!Best mod you can get is Zana the rest are kinda bad.My logic is: let's say u play Carcass tier 15 map it costs rare one with 100% + quantity 12 chaos.You use master sextant that cost 4 chaos on it and you don't get Zana because is low chance,you get let's say second best thing 30% more magic monster's.
My logic is.3 SEXTANT = 12 Chaos that give you 3x30%= 90% magic monster's.Why I just don't buy another t 15 map with 100%+quantity?I hope I am undeestamble.

Good news! Sextant use is optional.

Even when you get 3 uses there is no guarantee that you get good mod because you have more shity one.OFC usage is optional but why make mehanic that don't work?

luka tell me your options on chisels, vaaling and other zana map device mods what do you think about them?

On a T15 map probably not. On a t16 map probably yes.

I was wasting chisels/alchemy to get shit quantaty maps.Now i just buy good rare maps.

Never has been, never will be. All you get is a chance at something good. No guarantees, but potential great results.
Some people are willing to risk currency in order to win the lottery, some are more into secure investments.

Then of course there is SSF. No use hoarding the sextants there, so you might as well use them and once in a while get a good result.

Not at all. A white/yellow sextant on a t16 map will always return exponentially more than it cost in the long run assuming the relative ratio between a sextant and a map of that tier is something like 1:7 rather than 1:3 like what the op was doing.

It's similar to the idea you should never 4-chisel a map where 4 chisels is equal to or more than half the cost of the map.

Its common sense and a bit of economics and the group of players telling others to quad chisel, alch and chaos roll for pack say on the highest map you run tend to drive newer players into bankruptcy if in fact their highest map was a t12 which is worth 2 chaos.

Map prices drop as the league goes on but sextant prices go up or stay relatively the same.

On topic: Sextants are, like most aspects of this game, a gamble. And they are, as most aspects of this game, at their best when you combine them with other mechanics.

If the ante is lower than the guaranteed outcome, it's not gambling.
OK, this might constitute a mild True-Scotsman-fallacy.
However, white and yellow sextants seem to be cheap enough, so using them is a no-brainer, since you will always get more out of it than it cost you to use them.
This could be called a secure investment.
Then Master Sextants seem to be quite expensive and the single event outcome is between net loss and winning the lottery; however, in the long run on the side of net loss or breaking even.
This would be called gambling.

And then there are the people who live all alone in the woods, not interacting with others who when they find a lump of gold might as well use it to hammer it flat and cover a leaking roof because there is no other use for gold there and frankly, a dry bed is always good to have.
