Gameplay looks like you just clumsily hit a huge monster that is so slow and can't really attack you directly. Looks like it would get old after a couple of hours.

It's pretty damn fun. I clocked in about 300 hours when it first came out. Ultimately got tired of grinding but had a blast overall. Lance is so fucking op.
