Look how much more viable hybrid is at a pace like that. It's no wonder you don't see many hybrid hp/es builds anymore aside from ones using specific uniques.

I can only agree with the general sentiment expressed by some of the OG's here. Yes power creep happened, big time. Already wrote in other threads about it a gazillion times. I loved the slow methodical nature of poe in the early days. Feel sad when i just crush all the stuff without any consideration for placement or danger. Despite all the modifiers and layers upon layers - the game is more brain dead than ever.

I could say literally the same about PoE. It became far too fast, and many of its aspect werent accomodated to those insane speeds (performance, enemy AI, outdated skill mechanics, etc.).

There is no knowledge
That is not power
You can't slow down the pace. All the speedclear plebs will go MIA lol.

Everything gets faster and faster - quicker clear speeds, quicker deaths - as it gets faster I find it gets less enjoyable. In 2012 I enjoyed slogging through the game at a slow steady pace, but now even the league is designed around breakneck speeds and clearing within a time limit.

Hoping the next league doesn't force this kind of play - I know not everyone wants to take their time and smell the roses but there must be....dozens of us? :)

Looking at the cart moving mechanic that you have to keep up with I would not expect anything less then clear speed meta...

I also miss the type of play you are mentioning, but these days if you dont kill things fast enough you WILL die.

My example is from Essence when I made the "meta" bv build but instead of concentrating on dmg I went full block/spell block with aegis that allowed me to do all reflect maps (the bv had less powerful but more frequent hits). Even with that I was not able to do shaper because I lacked DPS.

The game design is moved so far from early days that it feels like a different game. I enjoyed my FB frenzy build that you had to aim at every mob, now you clear one screen with one click..

Now I find more fun from gathering currency (flipping) and making some silly expensive builds that I kill shaper handful of times and quit.

GGG is moving towards mainstream no thought gaming, so sad to see a game with such potential to resort to this.
yea the Power creep is so insane, alrdy after few Weeks i didnt even logged in anymore. I tried many Builds and everything feels WAY to Overpowered.

In the Endgame you dont even notice the Monsters, 98% of the time its just 1 click and everything explode, absolutly no challenge.

All the "dangerous" Monsters mods absolutly doesnt matter anyomore, a white mob or a Rare Monster, most of the time even the Boss with 50% more hp dies in seconds even with crap Gear, i dont even want to speak about 20+ex Gear. I really dont understand why GGG implemented such insane items like a Shaper Stackstick, its so unbalanced.

I REALLY DONT like the Speed Meta direction and i hope GGG can balance it somehow.

this is what a tough map boss fight in hc melee was like:

I remember the time when map mods mattered. I remember the few occasions where even those mirror-geared helpers I got failed to clear the map.

Today? Does map have reflect - Y -> skip map, N -> what's the difference between this map and a non-modded t1?

Reflect doesn't matter anymore. I regularly run Elemental Reflect maps with Elemental Hit.
The game is much easier overall now days, no doubt. However "back in the day" instead of Shaper you had the "newest" big bad for the release and he was almost impossible until he wasn't. The game is very different for both the good and the bad. You don't cycle through the game 3 times to get to maps, you instead now have all kinds of different things going on that enhance the power of the player. The game is most certainly more newb friendly, which I think they overdid.

Coming from the closed beta days, all those years ago, it is very different. At the same time it helps keep things interesting. I don't know if I would still be playing if it stayed the same year after year. It has been my constant game for many years. I get tired of it and leave for a bit, but come back in a few months or a league that intrigues me and it is fun again.
A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.
