Armor only Vs evasion/armor lategame?

So im building a sort of paladin duellist with zeal xD

So my question is, should i go for evasion/armor and is this viable lategame?

Ore am i better of using iron reflexes and stacking an insane amount of armor?

So far i have seen pieces of 2000+ evasion rating but no pieces of 1000armor/1000 evasion, do these pieces exist ore can u only max out if u play iron reflexes ?

Any help on this subject would be apreciated Thx :)

i would love if my "paladin" was able to absorb/evade/block but if absorb outplays evasion i wil gladly swap to it.

Hi
I'm levelling an Evasion/Armor hybrid elemental bow ranger with Eldritch Battery for 6 auras (Grace Discipline, Determination, Clarity, Anger and Wrath), 1,5k Mana atm and rising (71+ mana/sec, tapping passive nodes near witch start as well), which makes Mana Leech obsolete later on and lets you run Life on Hit or Life Leech.
Chest is pure Evasion (got a 1900 Evasion chaos'd roll on a lv 68 chest).
Belt has +350 Armor, helmet gloves and boots will be hybrids of the 3 defense types.
Also I'm adding Molten Shell + Incr. Duration which brings Armor to a very good level for tough fights.
Can't link my build since it's still too experimental atm and have to get to maps to see how it works out.
Still I believe it's a good approach but gear has to be very well tailored for this.
If you're leaving PoE, chances are I'll rezz you as my minion! MWHAHAHAH
thx for the reply, what im exualy wondering is if the higher armor outshines the evasion in lategame? i sort of figure u can get INSANE amounts of armor with the evasion/armor aura's,adding molten shell etc would only increase this, the thing is, wil it be better to stack this insane amount of armor and get hit a lot compared to being able to evade/block/absorb? like will i get one shoted lategame since im melee? if i dont evade i mean...im playing hc so it wil be pretty fucked if it turns out my armor does nothing for high dps hits and the mobs just one shot me.

Ive seen armors on trade forum of 2500 evasion rating....this with iron reflexes and some 30% nodes + aura's and u can have some pretty LOL armor rating, im wondering if this wil be better then evasion all together?...

Ultimately you'll need enough HP to survive the big hits, no matter which way you go.
Armor helps, sure, but to me Evasion helps too, since it lowers the chance to take crits (mobs have to hit, if they crit they also need to pass the 2nd to hit roll succesfully).
Since I'm ranged based (with arrow dodging) things might be easier to decide for me than for you being melee.
I'd say something along the line of 40% evasion & 40% armor with enough HP beats either one of the 2 as pure defense, but I could be wrong (not a very mathy person here, excuse me).

Grabbing IR later on wouldn't take too many passives for you, wouldn't it? (or respecc'ing it out again, should it turn out to be a disapointment).

Wouldn't say stealing ...
I toyed with the idea of picking EB in CB and simply porting it on my 4th iteration of building a bow ranger now.
Rangers have issues sustaining mana, Evasion isn't very viable without other defense measures, I'd say it's 1 of 2 options outside the standard builds (the other one being RT, IR, full armor, high HP gravitating towards Templar).
Next build will probably a melee ranger with sword n board, high Block, Evasion+Armor just the same.

TL:DR other post

High armor= good for lost of white mob hits with less spikey damage and crits.

High EVA = better for single mobs with high damage

As example we will use Vaal, you have 60% damage reduction and 5k life, Vaal does hammer time and hit's you, you die.

Now you have 60% eva and Vaal does hammer time and you dodge it and live, but now have to worry about all the little mobs pecking at you.

I think END GAME EVA is better than Armor, if you can stack 80% dodge with some block you will be better off than 80% damage reduction with block.

wow dude, where did you come out with that very very original build... you did not steal that directly from kripparian!!!!

cause we all know kripparian is the god of PoE, and only he, the god of PoE, could ever come up with a build. Its impossible to think someone else could.

Oh im sorry, ill give you a moment to get off your knees.

Seriously, with the way the game is atm, there really isnt much in the way of build diversity. Everyone will start coming up with the same builds by about thier 3rd or 4th character at this point since def, def, def is the only way to fly. Running eldrich battery so you can have more auras is pretty much THE reason to get it.

What's up your ass?
I feel like a balance between all defensive stats would be best but as you say in OP I guess it does depend somewhat on what affixes can roll on items.

If you had an armor with +base evasion, + base armor, and hybrid armor and evasion you could get a good amount of both i think but you can't also roll a + max health mod.

Someone will correct me if I'm wrong on that I'm sure

There is also the problem of attacks that cannot be evaded though like mobs that use shield charge which are some of the most dangerous.

Also if you PvP evasion is useless vs characters that use resolute technique
