Can multiple people catch portal beast?

I know that spirit beasts can only be caught by one person but can the legendary beasts that create the portals be caught by more than one? The people in global say only one can catch but this doesn't make since given that other legendary beasts can be caught by multiple and no where in the patch notes does it say only one can catch.

I tried it in a party and both of us caught the saqawine rhoa.
