Attack With Elements

Im thinking about the next character as Crit based Staff Elemental Smasher (Inquisitor). since there are many options, which primary Attack skill i should use for clearing/ for boss bash and why? (pref not fire type, also dont like sunder- looks bleak and boring but if thats the best option... :( )

Anyone?
Glacial Hammer? You can freeze bosses with it if you get Inevitable Judgement. But I would probably start with a one handed mace, shield, and Ice crash for leveling and running maps.

Try Earthquake possibly? I know you didn't want fire, but it's a pretty neat skill.

Staff isn't great for melee, unless you do a very specific build with like Sweep and Hegemony's Staff. Staff in general is pretty weak.

Not familiar enough with Glacial Hammer but might be fun/different to try it.
It's better to be Lucky, than Good
So the only staff worth using is hegemonys right? Was kinda thinking that staff could work hammer+shield alternate version

Ice crash looks neat and kinda seems stronger than earthquake. Kinda shame that phys to cold convert nodes are on the other side of the skill tree, but oh well

There are lots of good staves you can build from. A staff means more offense less defense. When you're leveling you really don't need that much damage, it's more important to stay alive so you can level up faster. If you're looking to kill the Shaper then you will probably need a staff for the damage. But you can wait until you pass a level 90 then switch from a shield/mace combo to a staff build.

Ice Crash is very strong. You can try the Hrimburn gloves for the cold conversion if you want. They have lousy mods but it will give you a better freeze effect.

You're only other option is Static Strike based on your preferences. But I would go with cold damage because the freeze and chill will give you some extra defense.

Tried ice crash on my shadow, it feels a bit buggy, like it deals dmg only once, despite the tripple animation. It deals dmg, and the rest waves just go through with no dmg at all, or of enemy comes in range, it deals with the last or middle wave, but i have never seen a minion to get dmged twice :|

That's intended behaviour. It's meant to be decreasing amounts of damage depending on which stage hits the enemy. What's really buggy about it is that it won't work if you attack near walls because GGG couldn't be bothered fixing a bug where it would make the ice crash AOE on top of the wall if you attacked too close.

It does? Staves have block chance as their usual implicit mod.
Face it, all of your suggestions are worse than this idea:

He probably means - compared to 1-hand plus shield. A 1H+S setup has access to certain defensive things a Staff wielder would be hard pressed to match, such as life on block and over 130 base Life, even if Staff block could reach levels comparable to Shield block (can it? I've never tried since the massive Staff block buffs).
