Want to share my uber budget endgame build... UPDATED "Delve"

"
Is Iron Reflexes a casual play style type decision for this build or does it really require a whole lot more than just say, going for the armour/evasion flavour of gear? I'm curious because it only takes one point to pick it up and might be worth testing out.

I feel that with the amount of rubberbanding / desync we get on console that dodge does poorly. Having that all converted to armor for a more solid defense feels like the better choice.

Thanks for that insight.

Build looks impressive, looking forward to trying it out.

Have you considered putting the build through Path of Building?

Thank you to Viljan and Corrison for your help. I used this build in the Race and snagged 2nd SSF Gladiator via the path of the tortoise (superior hours played, not superior skill). Now if only I had a pair of those "no bleed" boots ...

I'd like to try this when the new league starts. Could you post some of the gear you wound up using, AnExile? Like armor choices, and other uniques? Thanks.

Congrats!

Which way did you decide on your final tree, gem, and item setup? Maybe post a vid of your gear since we can't link it like pc yet?

Just as a caveat, I am not a ``big game hunter`` and if high end content is your intent, then I would recommend studying what Viljan has had to say.

So I have two SC characters: one trade Bestiary and one SSF Bestiary.

For both I used Viljan`s passive tree as modified by Corrison

https://www.pathofexile.com/build/VzJnTW

except that I added Iron Reflexes (again from Corrison`s musings) and Weapon Artistry,

and I took Born to Fight via Heart of the Warrior instead of Constitution.

For any extra levels there are the Life&Armour nodes west of Warrior`s Blood and the Evasion&Life nodes east of Finesse (and a 5% Life node north of Blood Siphon).

For my SSF character I dropped the Jewel socket with the two intelligence nodes up by Blood Drinker and took Versatility plus a Life node - but only because I had no decent jewels available.

I killed all three bandits.

I`m not entirely sure of the ascendancy order, particularly between 2 and 3 but I went
Painforged - Violent Retaliation - Versatile Combatant -Blood in the Eyes per Viljan. I based the choice for second on what I thought would help the most with Merciless Izaro if it helps.

Skill Gem choices:

4 Link: Whirling Blades - Charged Dash - Fortify - Blood Magic (choice of movement skill is a personnel preference thing, nothing intrinsic to the build in my opinion)

4 Link: CWDT - Increased Duration - Immortal Call - Tempest Shield (lvl 1 CWDT)

3 (only need 2+1) Link: Blasphemy - Enfeeble - Grace (Enfeeble is a defensive selection, there are several others like Warlord`s Mark and Despair for example. Enfeeble will likely have to be level locked based on how much intelligence you can fit in - Grace over Determination because of what the wiki explained)

3 Link: Cull - Ancestral Protector - Reckoning (I was quite pleased how this seemed to work out)

Embalmer 4 Link SSF: Blade Flurry - Unbound Ailments - Deadly Ailments - Melee Physical

Embalmer 4 link Trade: Blade Flurry - Unbound Ailments - Added Chaos - Melee Physical

Main Attack Link: what Viljan said except that I tried to fit in Deadly Ailments since I have yet to get a 6 link (other than a Tabula)

Chest 5 Link SSF: Cyclone - Unbound Ailments - Deadly Ailments - Melee Physical - Vile Toxins

Chest 5 Link Trade: Cyclone - Unbound Ailments - Added Chaos - Melee Physical - Vile Toxins

Having the two attack skills both available was quite handy although it does give up a fair bit of offence or opportunity cost from not having a unique for boots or helm).

I`m not entirely sure that I optimized the 5 link gem selection - I had a tabula in the race (which I used up to end of the white maps) and tried out various options - the one thing that seemed true was as Viljan stated: take the Melee Physical. I also looked at Void Manipulation and Decay but eventually felt that I had to move on before I could settle anything. Dratted Added Chaos did not drop in the Race until the second last day (got the last two ascendancy trials with in minutes of each other - on the fourth last day).

Gear: cap the resists, prioritize life, get some damage on the rings - open question - physical or chaos damage craft on the rings? In Trade league, I bought an amulet with +4 Block corrupted onto it. In SSF I really feel that an agate amulet is necessary and it is especially useful early on. You will also have to manage your intelligence (113 minimum for Wasp Nest) and just keep an eye on Strength. High amounts of armour and evasion really help but I tend to concentrate on Life and Resists and hope it comes with armour and evasion. A little energy shield does not seem a total waste as it actually stays up for a bit with the build. For the belt I just go Leather for the life (but I check out all Heavy belts, Rustic Sashes, and Stygian Vises - potentially the best - that drop).

The Wasp Nest seems essential (a risk in SSF, but I ended up with 3 in the race - same for the Embalmer already mentioned above)

Shield: In trade league I settled on the Lioneye's Remorse (another Corrison suggestion) but if Shaper is in your sights, then I`m guessing that you want Leper`s Alms (per Viljan). In the Race, I got 1000 Teeth Teemu - which up until that point I had considered to be just another pointless unique - can`t say if the Teemu was great or the build is just that good - but I was happy with the Teemu. I like using a unique shield for the extra block percent - just try to get life too. I also have a fondness for the shields with movement bonuses - especially during the Acts.

Chest: Difficult to recommend anything over a Belly, but my personal favourite at the moment remains Cherrubim's Maleficence. Between the Belly, Cherrubim`s and a Tabula, I have not tried anything else - but I have wondered about Cospri's Will and Bronn's Lithe which seem like they might really ramp up the offence but come with no life - and in the end, how much Life you have will largely determine your reach. You really want a healthy wack of life on your chest piece.

Pantheon and Flasks

I feel that these are really linked to personal preferences and play style. Me:

Solaris - for the ``Take no Extra Damage from Critical Strikes if you have taken a Critical Strike Recently``. Generally I died as the result of one shots, barrages (darned mass corpse explosions) and bleeding out - this build really bleeds out fast - or it seems fast because you get so used to ignoring everything else.

Ralakesh: everyday choice - any relief on bleed is welcome, but

Ryslatha: for any sort of cage fight situation where adds might not be available - the Lab, the Lab trials, elder related fights, etc

Flasks: I go rather conservative

two Panicked Life Divine of Staunching (makes me comfortable giving up Ryslatha)
one Mana Divine of Heat (didn`t take warlords) - this is totally optional
two damage flasks

Trade league I currently go with Coralito's Signature and Atziri's Promise
SSF - whatever you have and sounds good - even Lion`s Roar which has material desync risk but also can provide a sort of stun lock or allow you to move bosses out of unfavourable positions

For the yellow elder, I actually ditched the damage flasks and added two more Staunching life flasks.

I probably made some mistakes running back and forth between the Xbox and the PC - please feel free to query them.

Edits:

Jewels: I have no real insight here other than the thought that attack speed might be the preferred damage mod. Generally I just want +life%, a damage mod, and something helpful like intelligence, resists, or something that sounds useful (additional poison duration, maybe accuracy, something good if not killed recently for dangerous bosses, etc). Anything more is typically too expensive in Trade league and not feasible to craft in SSF. I have yet to have a jewel drop with four great mods for the build that I was playing currently - ever. Perhaps Viljan or Corrison have something more useful to add.

Melee physical is so good, the raw poison/bleed multiplyer is high enough to be counted as a gem by it self, on top of that the clean phys damage will make your leech to actually be useful.
Added chaos is probably the best gem, it gives you so high base poison to work with, before you even started to add ailment and poison %. Thats why wasps nest is so good, because it add almost another half added chaos gem.

I like to recomend despair infront of enfeber:
Cursed enemies take (15-25)% increased Damage from Damage Over Time effects is so strong, you can really feel the power of the curse after getting used to it and then you run a monsters are immune to curses map.

When it comes to elder and the lightning guardian, be sure to have a pre leveled ice and lightning aura, and they are almost no threat at all, but make sure to avoid the elder slam.

The ignoring part is so true :D
Fun to read you found some sort of success.
Tho the biggest issue is that it takes time for both the poison and block to really kick in.

I believe that I tend to agree. During the Race, I became quite intent on not dying. But in the regular game, once you get yourself established, Despair is likely the way to go - especially after you decide to stop actively levelling (a situation that I have only experienced/enjoyed at the end of Harbinger).

So I spent the last days of the league testing out some different items with my Trade league character.

Gems: What Viljan said if you have access to all gems (I only had a five link)

1. damage gem
2. melee phys damage
3. vile toxins
4. add chaos
5. unbound ailments
6. deadly ailments

Body Armour: I tried a 37% Belly of the Beast (about 350 more life for my character)
https://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Belly_of_the_Beast
and Cherrubim's Maleficence (more physical damage reduction, possibly more leech)
https://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Cherrubim%27s_Maleficence
Each has advantages but I preferred Cherrubims because I could channel Blade Flurry longer. I only got to tier 13 and higher content will demand more life. But the Belly will cost.

Curse: Once you are happy with your defences, I expect that Despair is the way to go. I did use one flask slot for a mana flask (which using Warlords Mark might have made unnecessary), but for me it was a small price to pay for the extra offence. Enfeeble is always available should you want/need more defence.

Lower Pantheon: I added Tukohama to the rotation (it seemed a natural fit with channelling Blade Flurry) but for me, I didn't really feel like much added advantage - I ended up sticking with the combo of Ralakesh with Ryslatha for cage fights.

Shield: there are several choices for shield that I tried - each with advantages and lack of advantages.

Lioneye's Remorse - https://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Lioneye%27s_Remorse (from Corrison's note)
A defensive "stat stick". Really helps with defence but slows you down.

Great Old One's Ward - https://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Great_Old_One%27s_Ward
I liked this for levelling but it did not seem to have anything special when I tried it on yellow maps.

Thousand Teeth Temu - https://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Thousand_Teeth_Temu
Decent but not special.

Leper's Alms - https://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Leper%27s_Alms (per Viljan)
I expect that if you have a six linked, this shield is a definite consideration, especially if you are going for the end game content.

The Anticipation/The Surrender - https://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/The_Anticipation (per Corrison)
Sounds ... sweet - but oh so far out of my price range ....

Daresso's Courage - https://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Daresso%27s_Courage
I found this one interesting - and it is the shield that I ended up using. First off, it has no life (big disadvantage and wearing it and the Cherrubim's at the same time pretty much had a hospital gown feeling - you really want to have a few life nodes under your belt if you are not using a Belly). But, once I blocked a spell, my spell block and attack block almost always instantly maxed out - and that is golden (in my opinion). With this shield, I also replaced Tempest Shield with a Golem (my choice was Chaos).

Other: I found a Starkonja's Head - https://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Starkonja%27s_Head
and equipped it (because, with the Daresso's Courage I could do that and still have my resists capped). Not sure how much it helps but it you may like the MTX ...

Happy Incursion League - and may the RNG be ever in your favour
(RNG is never in your favour ....)
