I killed him randomly one day with my Poet's Pen VD chr lol. Didn't even see him spawn but got the achievement XD.

Got him in a Desert Spring this league. Involved a lot of running around in circles and having by Siege Ballistas bleed him out with the occasional pot shots and curse applications. Abaxoth is a one man clusterfuck.
