Cannot Portal within an Abyssal Depth

At least from a map - I recall being able to open a portal in an Abyssal Depth once, but that may have been in a levelling area. The reason I ask is that I find it inconvenient (and hence a little annoying) but when I google it, I don't really see much popping up. Is this a feature? Am I somehow plagued by something that most others are not, or am I just bothered by something that most others are not?

Pre-map abyss works, once mapping it stops, just like u cant port out of a zone when u are doing master quests (weapon(where u fight him), armor, killing mobs in some instance within an instance(cant port out of that one)).
I guess its because they all start from outside the main game (hideout, map) but it might aswell be a bug, nertheless, when ur a hoarder like me (regal/chaos recipes) the last thing u want is going true the depth every time.
