Using steam points to buy non steam items
I got a steam gift card for xmas and I am wondering if it is possible to use it to buy stand alone points/ microtransactions. If so, how? I linked my account to steam but i dont see where to buy the ingame items on steam.

Are you using the Steam client or the standalone client?

Then you can't buy things through Steam.
You'd need to download the Steam version of the game. I find it difficult to justify optional purchases to support a Tencent-owned development studio that declines to provide customers Technical Support, regardless of how many thousands of euros that customer has spent...

bummer, thanks. Is it possible for customer service to switch my account to the steam version? I just cannot think of anything better to spend the card on than POE, lol.

You don't need GGG to do anything.
But to buy things through Steam you need to open the Steam version of the game. I find it difficult to justify optional purchases to support a Tencent-owned development studio that declines to provide customers Technical Support, regardless of how many thousands of euros that customer has spent...

Thanks for all your help, but to be honest I just dont want to make it a steam version of the game. I like the version I have and dont want the hassle that steam sometimes causes me.

You don't need to switch permanently.
The purchase can only be made through the Steam version. That's all you need to use it for.
