With the Lycosidae nerf GGG is really saying
I really hope we can start a discussion on accuracy for the left side of the tree now that the shield is going to be harder to find.
How the hell do you play inquisitor for attacks on a budget now? (I know... you don't, clearly, and especially since VP nerf) The shield is only so prevalent due to a lack of flat accuracy available to so many builds. For some it was a workaround for something so vital in this game as hitting stuff. Making the shield more expensive when it was so ubiquitous doesn't seem like a good solution for everyone who needed to use it to make a build work at all. I used it for the first time this league because I went with an attack inquisitor. Without it I wouldn't have been able to get enough accuracy and crit chance/multi to hit stuff (let alone crit it, the actual ascendancy identity).
Spoiler
I really hope some of the buffs coming are worthwhile... Right now I'm really just not happy with a lot of the "minor" changes that were made without compensatory changes. Things like this and RotP just seem so out of place when KB was killing the game in so many ways.
Guess I'll make another RT dude to start to save $$$... |

lycosidae didn't get nerfed at all
also its before the patch and playtime, so we have no idea how rare or how expensive this item will be now-a-days. keep in mind nothing we really anticipated to be nerfed was actually nerfed, like glacial cascade and stuff. don't want to deal with accuracy issues? play GC mines. |

im glad GGG is putting more items into t1 category so i don't find them too :D played since Beta and multiple xxxx k hours and yet have still to find any t1 except Kaoms,mjölner, rathpide good to see that i have to trade even more for items ... would be a shame in an ARPG to find such things even if u nolife this game

Funny that not a single person mentioned you can also simply put a single passive into 'resolute technique' and there you go, 100% hit chance and never have to worry about accuracy again.
It doesn't work if you are a crit build, sure but if you want the extra damage from crit you have to invest and the marauder area is just not that good for crit builds. So essentially this change just means, take resolute technique early on and once you are rich enough you can remove that node and take lycosidae instead. So the shield becomes an upgrade you can save up for but your build works fine without it. |

Vagan weapons will celebrate a comeback, if Lycosidae turns out to be too expensive/rare.
People did that before this shield existed and bypassed accuracy that way. Its just harder to pull of, because you need some exalted orbs and lvl8 masters. All of that got destroyed by a lvl11 shield :D and now its back. Means you have to settle for a master crafted vagan weapon and a free shield slot or a free weapon slot combined with Lycosidae. Pick your poison, its gonna be some ex anyways - Lycosidae is just way easier and comfy. Equip it and never look back. |

I'm just happy that nothing in the patch notes nerfed my plan starter build for 3.1.
I can figure out what the new meta is after I do a ton of lab farming with an AW FB Berserker tricked out with flat phys jewels from abyss league, lol |

Without nerfing the shield everything will stay the same - while leveling accuracy is used, and when people have enough coin they'll buy Lycosidae.
As a leveling shield they should have nerfed it and give it +400 accuracy and some resists. So most crit melee build will stay at it - only more expensive. It's like the shavs builds long time ago - you kept your ES chest only as long as to get a shav. Edit: Price on normal already shoots up - crazy, there should be a lot of them around. It's be 20ex and more in league and more if it is T1 rarity. Last edited by Llyrain#5646 on Dec 6, 2017, 11:37:18 AM

" True that. Trying to reach the 90% hit mark is an utter bear for left-siders, and I don't really see them getting more damage than right-siders to make up for it. Better access to life and armor and such yes; damage no, accuracy phukk no. Urrbuddy's all like "but you don't need 90% hit rate, especially for a non-crit character! Just stick with, like...80, 85% and you'll be just fine!" A'ight then guys, tell me how much YOU enjoy watching a huge percent of your damage output just up and disappear on you. It feels bad, and left-sidey builds have a disproportionately difficult time correcting it. That'd be one thing if there was some sort of compensation for that accuracy loss, but if it's there I'm not seeing where it is. Anyone who says "but you get the Strength melee bonus on the left side!" is free to show me math proving how thirty or forty percent melee physical damage is better for DPS than an extra ten to fifteen percent hit rate. G'head. I'll wait. Then you can do it again, except for flat elemental builds that get nothing from Strength but which are nonetheless cheerfully encouraged for Templar. I get why Lycosidae is getting T1'd. I really do. Because solving this issue with one shield is a big fucking deal...but perhaps the fact that it is such a big fucking deal should signal GGG that there's a problem here that could use some getting looked at? " I would argue "Crit" being the identity of the Inquisitor, but then I'm used to people forgetting that it has any Ascendancy nodes outside of Inevitable Judgment. Even for guys like me that prefer non-crit builds and Sanctify/Pious Path though, the accuracy thing is a bugbear. Yeah, I could go Resolute Technique, but then I'm locked out of Elemental Overload which leaves me lacking a massive whacking buttload of damage. I've been contemplating Kongor's Undying Rage for my particular build, but at that point it ends up being a different build altogether really. Additional Accuracy being such a horrifyingly horribly horribad support doesn't really help either. If not for the existence of Chance to Flee, I'm fairly sure I could get a good support base going for calling Additional Accuracy the worst support gem in the game. It really would be nice if we could talk to GGG about maybe doing something to make accuracy less awful on the left side of the tree. Lycosidae can keep being a chase unique if that's what they want to do with it but goddamnit guys there should be middle ground between "10ex shield" and "70% hit rate hahaha WHIFF HARDER SIS" She/Her

I came back to PoE after something like 2 years. I was looking for builds comparable to what I used to run. Many had this shield as a key piece. I've been playing again non stop for like 2 1/2 months now. Still have never seen one drop. Now it's likely I never will... at all.... ever. Just like Soultaker way back when. To this day, still haven't seen one of those either lol.
