I thought RPGs were about killing monsters and finding loot?

PoE has really lost its shine and wonder over the years. Remember when at any given time, one of 10-15 chase uniques could drop and would blow your brains out. You know, when shavs, lion's eye glare, BoR, thunderfist, soul taker, aegis, void battery, voltaxic rift and the likes were worth more than 10-20 chaos orbs?

Coupled with ever decreasing mob density players have resorted to farming div cards because loot has become so sterilized. What is an RPG where 99.9% of the loot is vendor trash rare and the few uniques worth anything are locked behind a crappy T11 shaped map or chance orbs spamming?

Will 3.1 make PoE shine again or introduce more rushed and recycled pre-game content? 3.0 has surely been a learning point from both GGG and the portion of their player base who was actually excited about the content 3.0 provided.

Did the removal/berf of most chase uniques and lowered mob density negatively affect your enjoyment of the game?

Now we have chase mirror rares. Crafting will always be best source of income it seems, once it gets snowballing.
Spreading salt since 2006
I'm not hardcore enough to use wisdom scrolls anymore and show again items in my loot filter.

I don’t need anger management, I need people to stop pissing me off!
Play SSF if your want to feel that your loot is worth something.
Yeah, you're pretty right.
There's just so much... trash, now.
Some of the trash uniques can be used for specific builds and work 'okay' but the insane one hit mechanics, and the stupidly excessive penalty, prevents most of the player base ever having reasonable opportunities for the truly defining uniques.

Crafting needs to be expanded *considerably* and much of the RNG removed.
Patch Notes 3.15:
Fixed a bug where players believed the game was playable. This has been corrected and made retroactive.
Patch Notes 3.19:
Fixed a bug where players adapted to 3.15. This bug cannot be corrected, so we have implemented a 90% reduction in item access as a punishment.

It's enjoying zero consequence failure. Being a bottom feeder in PoE is way more fun than being OP for me. I almost feel bad about it.

I am not sure PoE could remain surprising or fresh for you guys no matter what GGG do. You burn through whatever they throw at you way, way faster than GGG can produce it. Leagues are the compromise and you shred those in no time too.

I think its a good point to consider but do not think GGG can ultimately do too much about it. You may scorn 3.0 for giving you nothing. You may call the league Garbinger. But I really love both as a ssfer who derives much joy just playing core game in lots of different ways. For me, binding orbs are the best currency item ever.

So with 3.0 GGG didn't even pretend they weren't catering to my very shallow end of the pool. I'd say sorry but you guys got Uber Atziri, Breach Lords, Atlas and the Shaper...and you'll probably get something with 3.1...which you'll probably wreck in a week and subsequently call it dog shit as usual.

It seems to me with 3.0 you guys are experiencing a little of the disconnect and dismay I've felt for years now. So I empathise.

But since it's been years for me and only months for you, I do not sympathise.

Edit: phone typos. You're worth me logging in to reply but not quite enough to pull me to a keyboard. Heh.

It can become surprising again without a doubt, it has been the case with how they revamped leveling and story part for example, i asked for that since my first week on PoE and they did it right. made it to 7 characters in harbinger league and i enjoyed every bit of new acts.

The only thing that can't surprize me ( won't talk for everyones ) is endgame after all.
Because you can add an Atlas, few more bosses, few more items it will remain exactly the same than all those years ( since release at least ) open map => kill trash => repeat. Balance issue and lack of originality are the problem, and not the playtime i'm willing to spend on PoE.

At some point the Nature of ARPG is to catch players attention, with repetitive content and a possible reward at the end ( Casino model ). GGG's is well known to push that to the extreme but i would welcome some goals that are less redundant and eventualy a bit more rewarding.

Example, I really enjoyed the challenge asking to dodge Goddess mortars or Gorge Boss leapslam, it added something really new in PoE and for once i felt it was really engaging gameplay, requiring to use a bit more strategy. I felt rewarded, comparing to usual gameplay wich is about entering boss room watching billions dps number coming from the sky and move to next map.

Now there is something that pushed me out years ago of the slow paced boat, i'm glad to find great uniques items all leagues i'm really lucky on that but the surprise to find even an OK rare item is gone. I'm not talking about it's economic value, and more about items i can use to min max any of my builds, or just watch few times and really appreciate, or that can motivate me enough to start a build using them.
And it won't back, because the game has been clearly oriented to gold farming and trading. Gold became currencies but it doesn't change anything. Wisdom scrolls are just dead to me. Even jewelery is gone from my item filter lol

Except SSF what is the other solution ? ( not that i don't want to play SSF but i'm in the multiplayer mindset, going alone for an entire league will never provide me any fun ).
How am i spending my time on PoE now-a-days ? I test some builds and limit myself to use blue items or a maximum number of socket on them. At that point i even wonder if it's sane :D

Last point is while Harbinger league felt really poor to me, i can understand that GGG got overworked with 3.0 / Xbox / China distribution and they released whatever they could to fill the gap.
Even with new orbs that are great, it's just an additional time sink when mapping, and a map called beachhead. Nothing else. 0 challenging content, Beach Head doesn't even have a boss and just a coward's trial wave of monsters at the end.

Will see what 3.1 bring to the game, for now the next step is just waiting for events in between leagues that has been announced yesterday.

There arn't dog shit content in conclusion, there are design issue built on previous design issues mostly.

Hf :)
