Vaal Cyclone + Melee Splash

If I combine Vaal Cyclone with the Melee Splash Support gem, does this increase the amount of damage I deal by hitting everything in range any time I would hit with Vaal Cyclone? Does VC do this already? Is MS a waste of time?

Melee Splash can only support single-target attacks, so won't work on Vaal Cyclone since it has no single-target component.
