When I rewatched this old vid I was immediately reminded of I_NO's fave image reply.

haha

awesome clip, fellow HEMA fan detected - double awesome :P
The Wheel of Nerfs turns, and builds come and pass, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the build that gave it birth comes again.
That was really cool to watch. Very much enjoyed that display.
Combat is simple.
Keep your blood in.
Take theirs out.

i have loved swords basically my entire conscious life, but asthma and eczema make it hard for me to exercise and my significant other doesn't want me to die in a tragic fencing accident.... so I have not been able to get into HEMA practice.

At least I can live vicariously through videos like this though ;-;

EDIT: to be honest my favourite fencing style is longsword fencing. But my SO says it is too violent. She would prefer me to fence with 1-handed, more similar to sport fencing, but even then I am busy and exercise is hard.

One day soon!!! Maybe... hopefully... possibly

I also love to learn foreign languages so it was hard for me to just write boring old "longsword" and not "langenschwert"

Well, I also just like to watch HEMA videos without actually having practiced it or intending to practice but then I don't really want to. I am 99% sure you know all the big HEMA guys on youtube, still - if you haven't, check out Matt Easton of the Scholagladiatoria channel, he has many great videos.

About asthma and eczema, this sounds like an excuse to me honestly. You aren't actually physically incapable of fencing and if your wife/GF determines what you can or cannot do as a hobby, congratulations: you're whipped. Sounds to me like you would enjoy a HEMA practice tremendously and are unwilling to do it mostly because you're stuck in a rut. Well, I don't know how bad the situation is and I guess these conditions could be practically debilitating but it doesn't sound like that. Btw, I know asthmatics who practice sports regularly. I'm shortsighted and wear glasses, didn't stop me from doing several martial arts over the years. By 'shortsighted' I mean 'I can't see further than my nose without glasses'. It's bloody inconvenient and I won't be winning tournaments any time soon but it's doable.

IMO you should at the very least give it a try :)

Cheers.
