OK GUYS I FIXED LIFE:

+1% more max life for every 1 point of strength
ES now takes 40% more damage from all sources and 80% more damage from critical strikes, you are 20% more likely to receive a crit while at max ES

Ive said it before, and I'll say it agian.

remove VP and watch es users squirm and die as their leech queues up instead of instantly applying and they can no longer stand still and tank shit not meant to be tanked (ie, shaper)
oh and when someone says 'dont fuck with leech', what they really mean is 'dont fuck with vaal pact leech'. let's not misrepresent the real meaning of leech in the present game state.

when one keystone is pretty much the only way (well, aside from acuities - slayers leech and vinktars do contribute but not so much)to do a complex mechanic such as leech, there is a big problem. removing or hard nerfing vp wont fully solve the ES vs HP problem, but it will cripple es users enough from the current 'ezmode just leech through it' mindset
while there's a disparity, you aren't supposed to stack life like es: you're supposed to stack mitigation from multiple sources to reduce the spike damage you take.

Gotta love how whenever anyone suggests a nerf to ES, I_NO magically appears and just shits all over them.

Also, that whole 'stack your mitigation' bullshit really doesn't help. The vast majority of shit in this game that is actually dangerous deals enough damage to outright one-shot a life build regardless of their investment in most forms of mitigation. The only damage that can be reasonably mitigated is physical due to armour and stacking ED's and fortify, but even then you have bosses that will take 4K+ of your health with a phys hit despite all of your mitigation. Furthermore, the amount of investment needed to get reasonable life numbers and mitigation is far more than for ES characters. Most builds in the Shadow and Witch areas can easily stack 250%+ ES increase while also being within easy reach of the nearest damage node, and beyond that all they need is VP, GR and some leech on gear or flasks and they attain godmode.
For health characters, you can barely get 160% or so increased life while straddling two separate areas of the skill tree, and often need to go into three separate areas to properly breach the 200% increased life mark. Then, you realise that life doesn't scale as well either due to the massive disparity between sources of flat life and flat ES.
A single well-rolled ES chest will give you 900+ ES, whereas you'd be lucky to get anywhere close to that much flat life on gear without a Kaom's Heart, and even then you're giving up a massive source of skill sockets and resists compared to the ES option.
The issue here is that ES has just too much going on for it atm and its core weaknesses are far too easily mitigated.

Some potential ways to fix this are:
- Nerf %es nodes. At the moment they give far more ehp per-point than life nodes can give, being on-average 2.5 times more effective than life nodes. Bring them back down to about 1.8 times more effective or somewhere along those lines, where it'll still be giving more outright ehp than life, but not completely destroy it in terms of value.
- Make Vaal Pact also remove the ES recharge mechanic, making the ES builds reliant on the leech rather than simply abusing it to facetank.
- Nerf Vinktars. Seems like a lot of the current issues with ES are related to abuse of Vinktar's huge life leech and the ease with which it can be permanently kept running. Nerfing Vinks will target those abuses while also keeping normal CI or LL builds fine. Could also be nerfed to only grant leech when VP is not chosen if you really want to keep Vinks in meta somehow.
- Increase the number of %es nodes but also decrease effectiveness, to increase the requirements needed to reach the godly ehp pool but not removing it as a possibility

Or, if you like power creep, then just buff HP nodes to be more on par. But tbh, power creep is what leads to this sort of bullshit in the first place.
