Screw ten acts.

Regarding the development manifesto posted here...

I can't even be happy about the removal of Cruel at this point. Seriously sick of running through these stale acts just to get to the real start of the game. Just cut both Normal and Cruel for god's sake. Why do we need to keep one difficulty to practically run straight through?

And for most players (that actually play) the game doesn't even start until maps, which is now this massive atlas that rivals multiple acts in content.

I know GGG won't do this, but I'm still gonna post it.

Probably you should put a link to what you are replying to, since it's not really very obvious what you are talking about in that first paragraph. Did someone post somewhere about 10 acts and 2 difficultyies or something?

FTFY.
Face it, all of your suggestions are worse than this idea:

I've updated the original post to indicate what this thread is about.

That said, please do no turn this thread into a hardcore vs. softcore clusterfuck. It is completely irrelevant to the topic.
Get a fucking grip, you are moaning about grinding through 10 fucking acts like it's the end of the world, you skip those acts guess what you are going to be doing?....ohh thats right fucking GRINDING the same fucking maps all the fucking time.

Get a fucking grip, you are replyling to a post on an internet message board and acting like it's the end of the world, yadda yadda yadda.

There's over a hundred different maps now of different zones to play with different bosses and different tilesets, with different mods to run, all of which you DO NOT simply run though to get to the next zone. This is what I mean by the game not even starting until maps.

If you are happy with running through the same zones that offer no challenge and nothing of interest for the umpteenth time, lucky you. It still sucks ass every time for me, and maybe others, so it's worth mentioning.
This is a process. Act 5 probably won't bring about 25 new zones to go through. So it's unlikely the game had nearly enough zones to accommodate a full play through of level 1-68. Not to mention the drastic changes that have to be made to progression. Taking out 1 difficulty first allows them to slowly see how the game shifts.

This is still 2 less Acts to go through overtime. If Act 5 is big enough, then it still might be around the same play time but its still less time going through similar areas.

Eventually, they will probably cut it down to just 1 full set of Acts leading into an endgame. This is a nice start and will be refreshing to cut down on even just a few acts.
Then again, maps do not offer challenge if you got the right build either. So, where is the difference? You can clear maps faster because you get better at 1-shotting stuff and have faster movement speed, but besides that...?
Remove Horticrafting station storage limit.
Introduce an "experienced" mode, where there is just one quest line, but the level zones & difficulty jumps sharply through acts. This would make the quest content more difficult, thus less boring than it is now. Newbs could still go through it twice, in the "casual" mode.

Spread resistance penalties into each Act, the same for Lab instances. Bandit quests could be done as separate maps or something.

Whatever solutions GGG will find to fit 3 into 2, it could be done to fit 3 into 1 instead.
