Show me an engine that can handle that many particles without a problem. Btw your example has to be an online game since CoC also had a big impact on latency. Good luck.

Hint: even D3, which is widely accepted as a well optimized game, tanks hard fps wise when there's a lot of shit going on on the screen.

ya, I mean the other way around it is to make all spells have significantly lower quality effects, then you could have them cast that fast. It is a choice to have this proc less and have spells look better than vice versa. D3 has far lower quality effects, a lot less particles, less layers, less distortions and lights etc, and it still stumbles over heavy situations in the game.

Brevik? If only Qarl and co could have come up with an amazing game like marvel heros I guess?

The main problem with CoMK builds all this time was they were absolutely pointless, a straight spec using the same skill will beat CoMK setup and won't have trouble with bosses. I can see CoC going the same way, probably not even the ultra easy EE cheese will be able to save it.

Of course, not saying it will be unusable, some will still play it, the setup just won't be popular anymore. I'm personally not bothered by that too much because I've always been of the opinion trigger gems should be niche, however the rework also made them uninteresting and you don't make a niche gem uninteresting because it can easily go from niche to full dead, like Elemental Hit.
Wish the armchair developers would go back to developing armchairs.

I have a list of everyone who complained the hardest about coc in the forum. I'll see which skills they are playing the most, build a mediocre CoC build and start comparing and complaining how overpowered their favorite skills are and demanding nerfs because they are 'total bullshit' :P

Playing with a CoC-discharg player was imposible for me.
1) I have a damn bad inet connection and the overload on information crashed me many times.
2) It was pur eye cancer and I got headache from this stroboskop flashing.
So it was either the CoC-discharge guy leave or me (as I started partys often I simply kicked them no matter how overpowert the build was).

And I still see CoC alive ;).
Building a pur caster guy who spams Fireball/AB/Speer is far harder and mana intens then building a CoC spamming 1to3 spells.

Just do the mana cost math for:
- CoC + Kinetik Blast + GMP + spell + spell + spell +PLUS+ ONE "x mana on hit" jewel
and
- Spell + Echo + Fastcast + suport + suport + suport

It is far easier to keep CoC running then to keep Spell-spam running! Even more as you can get "x mana on hit" from weapons, jewels, rings, amulet, gloves ... which all do not apply to spells!!!
