Blast Rain Question

Becuase a few ranger builds use blast rain for single shot, i gave a try.
In some threads for a 6L they add pierce to blast rain.
But why they use pierce ? In tooltip i don't se, that this support gem is added to blast rain.
Blas rain is an arrow so it should be a projectile... but why its no connected in tooltip like in tornado shot ?

Blast rain is projectile damage, but it's not a projectile.

If it's not showing up in the tooltip, it might be because the tooltip is getting confused.

so now i'am unsure if pierce do any effect with blast rain...
Or should i connect another support gem to blast rain, e.g. increased critical damage

Pierce should affect it, since it says 'more projectile damage', and it does projectile damage. But it won't make blast rain pierce or anything.

Thanks for the correction Viper! I just tested it in game and they don't link up at all.
