Mastermind of discord and Arctic Armor

If i have Arctic Armor on (spell, cold, duration), does it activate the keystone Mastermind of Discord in elementalist to give me 25% lightning penetration? Or does it have to be a damage skill type? The description said as long as the skill contain the keyword of the element (fire, cold, lightning). Thanks.

Also, if I have Elemental focus gem link, will it overide Shaper of Desolation Keystone and prevent the skill from inflict any elemental status?

Can't say for sure but I would guess it works. Why would you want to recast Arctic Armor every 10 seconds though?

On the 2nd question I am pretty sure it will be unable to cause status ailments even with elemental conflux going as that's how the support gem reads. Could be wrong, maybe conflux causes the ailment and not the skill but I don't have an elementalist to test it out.

You would need to recast arctic armour every 4s to get the benefit.

Elemental focus over-rides other things which would make the skill cause status ailments. This almost certainly includes Shaper of Desolation.

Patch 2.3.0 changed Ascendancy class balance (and Chris forgot to put it into patch notes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! shame on him)

And yeah, I heard that in this game Never is stronger than Always, so Elemental Focus = not even Conflux can override it
