Random generated items

On the surface it does look pretty similar to other popular Action RPGs, yes. We've really put a lot of effort into making it as deep as possible, though, and I believe we can start to show you more specific items in the near future. The next content update will probably include examples of items to illustrate points.

The helmet in your screenshot is the lowest tier "Strength/Dexterity" hybrid helmet, I believe.
Armor (previous internally called "physical damage reduction rating") helps mitigate damage - it's what strength armor pieces get.
Evasion is the equivalent for dexterity items and helps you avoid hits entirely. This helmet has both, because it's a hybrid item.
Intelligence armor pieces grant "Energy Shield", which acts as a damage buffer and regenerates over time once the wearer is out of combat. It allows spellcasters to take occasional blows in combat, but won't withstand a constant barrage of damage for long.

To answer the original question about how much variety in random items we have, there are two relevant numbers to bear in mind. Firstly, there are currently almost 500 base item types in the game (such as Notched Blade vs Long Sword vs Shell Sword). Secondly, as is obvious with this type of system, there are millions of combinations of mods available on any particular base item.
