Opinions on real-money auction house?

I'm interested in how people feel about this. Blizzard is doing it with Diablo 3, and while I don't agree with the premise, I agree that their reason for doing it is unassailable - because people will sell the items anyway, it's better to make it official rather than going through dodgy websites.

How does everyone else feel about this? Could this work with PoE? Please don't use "pay to win" as an argument; it's not valid for the aforementioned reason.

With a RMAH you are forced to make the best build because anything else will cost you money.

Would you care to explain that? What happens if you don't make the best build, and don't pay anything at the auction house? Do you explode?

Why? RMAH sucks. We dont want Pay2Win and Item Shop with selling Power in PoE. And this is exacly what RMAH is - most extensive Item Shop in video games ever (all items ingame including gold and even characters lolz).

Take this crappy RMAH-talk to Blizzard fansites plz.

Yea literally EACH thread with complaints or feedback has one/two Alpha Testers with attitude "You are wrong/the game is perfect/L2P/GGG wants blah blah blah/i know better/working as intended".

For example each thread with complaints about new selling/vendors system is bombarded with that crap (system is perfect yada...yada... recipes are rewarding even too much (LOL) etc...).

God Bless that GGG listen their Beta Testers not dedicated zealots and we may have some changes, tweaks and additions to "perfect" game.

Srsly nobody cares about YOUR opinion. This is thread with a question to the developers so maybe stop acting like their advocate and the forum police or smth ok?

I know everything what you wrote and i STILL WANT hear whats ahead. So only waste of space here is your post m8.

I take a brief look at your posts and basically your only activity on this forums is arguing with people that have valid complaints and that gives feedback (not mention acting like you were at least in developers team) so maybe go and piss off someone else ok?

You complain about zealots on one hand, and then on the other hand, tell people who engage in discussion of an idea you don't like to piss off to another site. Calm down and maybe take your own advice sometime.
Sry but i dont take any advices... including my own ones.

BTW. "Take this crappy RMAH-talk to Blizzard fansites plz." is still valid. This kind of "ideas" simply dont belongs and dont fits here. RMAH is one of the worst ideas in video games ever and plz take stuff like this to places where they belong.

EOT.

You people are dum.

1.Making actual money in Diablo 3 and being able to cash it out was a rumor, never confirmed by Blizzard.

2.Fact: You sell items for money on Diablo 3 auction house, but you are able to spend it ONLY on Blizzard products (T-shirts,wow in-game mounts/pets e.t.c.)

3.An actual in-game AH where you can sell items for IRL currency and actually be able to cash it out, would destroy the game within first few minutes, there is no possible way it would work out in any type of game,it would turn into a casino.
No rest for the wicked.

Your first point isn't even close to being true. Blizzard has a partnership with Paypal for cashing out, and it has been confirmed NUMEROUS times. It's that you can't do BOTH. You can't send your funds to your b.net account and paypal. If you select paypal, all of your money is cashed out. If you would actually bother to look it up you'd find out that it has been confirmed over and over.

THIS IS FROM THE OFFICIAL D3 FAQ. @ http://us.battle.net/d3/en/services/auction-house/info#q7

"Q) Can players choose to get cash from currency-based auction house sales, instead of having the proceeds deposited into their Battle.net account?

A) Yes, as an advanced feature, players will have the option of attaching an account with an approved third-party payment service to their Battle.net account. Once this has been completed, proceeds from the sale of items in the currency-based auction house can be deposited into their third-party payment service account. "Cashing out" would then be handled through the third-party payment service. Note that this process will be subject to applicable fees charged by Blizzard and the third-party payment service. Also, any proceeds from the sale of items in the currency-based auction house that have been deposited into the Battle.net account will not be transferrable to the third-party payment service account. Not all regions will support this advanced feature at launch. Region-specific details, as well as details regarding which third-party payment services will be supported and the fee that Blizzard will charge for the cash-out process, will all be provided at a later date."

Also, it's hard to say the game will be destroyed in the first few minutes. Most of the good drops won't be found for a few weeks, and even then, they won't be overly abundant for years. Your point is nil, redundant, and honestly horribly disregards all logic.

Edit: Also, my post STRAIGHT FROM THE FAQ FROM BLIZZARD proves that you haven't even done your research, and you're spouting facts that simply aren't true.

Good/rare items take time to drop...which means they will have some base value. It's like how you pay in-game gold for a rare/good item. Time invested exchanged for time invested. The only difference with a real cash system is that you can pay to have that time invested reduced. (Probably at great expense at that)

If anything, rare drops will be overpriced at launch/first few weeks, as is always the cash when new items are released in MMO's. Demand > Supply.

Depending on the rarity, I can see some items reaching $100+, going by the prices found on the black market in other MMO's.

I don't see why people liken Auction House -> Cash Shop. Cash shop is trading money for GM spawned items essentially, which ruins the economy. RMAH on the other hand trades money for time, which is different than randomly spawning items. Someone has to work to get the item to sell in the first place, which means playing the game, which will hopefully mean player interaction. Player interaction is the whole reason we play multiplayer games after all, right?
im against the idea, there were too many wankers bragging about there awesome items they had just bought off a website in games like d2, i say make people work for there items, its a lot more rewarding as well
I like to Party.
