I have no words for how upset i am... You (GGG Staff) have said nothing about this issue, apart from the fact that John linked us a reddit thread which didnt work for some of us... and this is making me slowly lose trust over GGG.
My issue is probably slightly different from other players... I have a pirated copy of Windows 8.1 Pro, yeah whatever, call me names for having a pirated copy of 8.1, i had my reason, that reason being, im not spending 350 dollars on an OS. I have had this version for 2 years, and in those 2 years, not once has Path of Exile messed up this bad Now, i have tried everything mentioned both in this forum, and in the PoE Subreddit, and nothing has worked, i have reinstalled Path of Exile not once, not twice, but a total of 9 times... i have been up for almost 27 hours (coz, i was up before the update) and this is beginning to make me go crazy Normally you guys would say something like "we're looking into it" or "we're expecting to have a hotfix out on (insert date here)" but its been nothing but "look at this subreddit, see if it works, if it doesn't, sorry." This is not good enough I don't think you realise how important this is not only for us, but for your playerbase, if this continues even after ascendancy, i can almost guarantee that there will be a huge chunk of playerbase missing. So, please, tell us you guys are aware of the problem, and are trying to fix it... i've been a strong supporter for years (not Charan level) and this game has made my stressful life so much easier. We understand that there are tweaks and stuff going on for ascendancy at the moment, but let us know what is going on... If you really want, i can list what i have tried... i have plenty of IT/Comp Science years under the belt, and this issue is still bothering me Lots of love, and concern for both my fellow players, and for GGG Slayer. We're trying hard to get everyone fixed up before Ascendancy comes out in a few days. This redistributable update is necessary for Ascendancy, and we released it early so that there's time to fix any remaining issues. If people are still having issues after following all the steps and are desperate to play, my recommendation would be to clean install the most up-to-date version of Windows you can get and then install Path of Exile from scratch. That works very reliably. The newer the better in terms of Windows version. | |

I'll try a handful of other things, if that fails, then i guess i will have to do a clean install :) Its just a bit frustrating to have a game that works fine before the update to completely not respond to anything afterwards, but, i hope its fixed :) Thanks again Chris. " New compiler, new issues... " Have you tried a legit copy of windows? There really is no telling what your pirated version is missing. Edit: IMO if you're willing to spend 1000+ bucks on a free to play game, forking out some cash for a proper OS should be a priority. If not solely for safety/security reasons. Slayertip1, I'm also using Windows 8.1 Pro (x64); this is what finally worked for me:
First, install KB2919442: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2919442 - it's a prerequisite for something else. Restart your computer. ----------------------------------------- Then install the following, in this order, from this link: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=42335 clearcompressionflag.exe KB2919355 KB2932046 KB2959977 KB2937592 KB2938439 KB2934018 Restart your computer. ----------------------------------------- Then, install the VC redistributable from here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-nz/download/details.aspx?id=48145 - Either install or repair, depending on what you've done previously (only one will show up). After that, start your PoE client. The VC redistributable popup should still come up, but just click 'yes' and this time everything should work fine. Hope this helps! | |

how come poe is the ONLY game that has this problem? I have a ton of other games released recently and not one of them has these dll issues. Package stuff that's needed for poe, with poe.

" i'm not affected by the problems and it's too late now anyway but it really would have been better to test the redistributable between the two temp leagues. how you did it just destroys the hope of some players to finish their challenges in talisman. age and treachery will triumph over youth and skill!
