The fine bros want to trademark the whole react video genre on youtube

Who? To me it seems those clowns are only doing clickbait stuff.
I want to own the copyrights on the word 'the' and the letter 'A'.
For years i searched for deep truths. A thousand revelations. At the very edge...the ability to think itself dissolves away.Thinking in human language is the problem. Any separation from 'the whole truth' is incomplete. My incomplete concepts may add to your 'whole truth', accept it or think about it

Agreed. Even if they were serious they are a little bit late ... make that a LOT LATE to the "react" genre. I'm sure earlier versions of the reaction genre existed in theater, but the "format" of using a person's response as entertainment goes back at least to 1947 to Alan Funt.

If there was any such "format" copyright, then Candid Camera could sue the pants off the Fine Bros.

Hmmm, maybe that's what happened to all the pants in Wraeclast? Land Sharks in pantsuits discovered the Vaal Litigate gem (which gathers class action spirits) and their Infringment
Legions scoured the cities and countryside all their resources.

The fine bros actually used their channel popularity and their partnership with youtube to shutdown other "react-channel" they even asked Ellen to remove one of her video about teenager reacting to technology. These guys are serious about what they want to do.

If they are, they better lube up and prepare for a financial high colonic. If Google tries to back them up, it could end up in the same decades long no win scenario as Microsoft did.

Candid Camera was pure Reaction Comedy. These guys weren't even born when it was big and booming, and even under the shortest duration, Alan Funt's copyright wouldn't expire until 2043. After this, the "format" would become public domain.

All they do is find a meme subject
Ask kids and degenerates to react to it (make sure to give them scripts and tell them to exaggerate their reactions)
Record it
Compile, make an obnoxious thumbnail, upload it and add an obnoxious title with caps
Collect money

One of the worse Youtube channels
Lawyer talks about the laws involved in the situation:

Youtube has been taking down channels left and right in the last month. Doug Walker's (aka the Nostalgia Critic) channel https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bC3NIdiZF_E lost most features for 3 weeks. Smaller channels without the influence of hundreds of thousands of people dont have a chance. Something is seriously broken with the system. And being a corporation rather than a government entity, the users and content producers on Youtube have absolutely zero rights.

I expect the only way to fix the situation is with US congressional action to grant users of the internet some basic human rights, and perhaps reduce the liability of websites whom have users which violate the DMCA-98.
