Winterheart Race Season Details!

The Winterheart signature race is a fixed seed event where areas contain chilled ground and players are 45% faster while chilled. This gives players an incentive and advantage to spend as much time running and fighting on chilled ground as possible.

Because of the popularity of the 24-hour boss kill race in the Bloodthirst Season, we're running another one in the Winterheart Season. The objective with this one is to still keep it immensely difficult, but to have that difficulty ramp up over time in lieu of having most classes unable to pass the Twilight Strand without finding a ranged weapon. The event will have roaming clouds of cold damage that chill you, and each area contains many strongboxes. These damage areas become very dangerous as you progress through the game.

The Winterheart Race Season introduces new modes such as:
  • Races that start in Act 2 and Act 3. These races use pre-made characters with unallocated passive trees. In the future, this same tech can be expanded to create variations of this idea, including starting in later difficulties or in the Eternal Lab.
  • No-Portal Party Races.

We've also added Shrapnel Shot to the Endless Ledge, Descent and Descent: Champions starter chests for the Ranger class. The team is also still looking at adding other skills which were introduced in 2.1.0 to the Descent and Descent Champions events.

Some community members have noted that the Winterheart Amulet has been altered since we originally introduced it. This was done as we felt that the design was too build-specific and not able to be used as globally as we would like. However, the original design will most likely be released as a different item.
