My ranger sucks

I'm currently playing a ranger (level 54, act 1 merciless), it is my 3rd character, and the first one I broke level 50 with. However, I'm doing zero damage. I like both physical skills (rain of arrows) and elemental skills (Lightning arrow). But which one is better, and do they both require frenzy to be used? Because I really hate keeping my eye on the stacks. Anyways, my DPS with LA and 4 frenzy charges is only like 500.
Can you guys help me with the kind of stats I should look for on gear? Or should I just reroll another build? Gear:
