New Player-Dagger Balance

Does this game still have issues with the Dagger>Swords/Axes/Maces
Ive read several threads/other websites and they say that most DPS build is beat by a crit/dps dagger build.

Yes, daggers are usually the best way to get super high dps in this game. Maces and Axes cannot go crit, and swords are viable to go crit, just over shadowed by daggers. However, daggers (and swords) are relatively hard to craft, and with daggers being so popular, high end daggers are also very pricey. You also have to keep in mind that because this is a crit build, you're investing heavily into crit chance instead of life and defenses, and the same can be said on gear. They're usually more of a glass cannon character, but can be semi tanky with enough investment and leveling.
Sure, the lab can be hard, but it's pretty easy if you're properly geared, and not terrible at the game.
Even if daggers weren't inherently better for crit(which they still are), there's also the fact that the best area of the tree for getting crit chance and multiplier nodes is going to be the shadow area...which also happens to be where the dagger nodes are. It would probably be hard to change this without completely "rebranding" the shadow class and what it's supposed to be specialized in.
