if I stack crit do I need shock nodes?

For example: http://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Breath_of_Lightning
Not a pure shock node but still. Can I avoid getting this if I stack lots of crit?

To apply shock you need :

1) Chance to shock / get a crit

2) Do enough % damage of the enemy max life so the status alinement is triggered.


Crit does both, it's an automatic shock and by all mean crit means a lot of damage.

I think it has not changed, chance to shock are good notables when you are leveling and still lack the crit chance to have high uptime on shock, but they become useless when you transition to crit and crit multi nodes.

Since u most likely wont shock, regardless of what u do. Going crit with lighting dmg is enough to shock everything else.
