Is making an eva melee build suicidal ?

It's working good for me on Normal HC, but I know the monster damage output is really crazy now, so I can see that I will rip if I take a huge hit in cruel.
Is it even viable now to make a melee char not being a templar or marauder ? |

Sure. Fortify, AA, EC, chaos golem all help to mitigate the hits that sneak through.

It can work but eva is pretty undertuned right now. I'd focus on hybrid gear to make sure you're getting armor, and as stated above you should run fortify, arctic armor, enduring cry. Maybe enfeeble too.
I find the mitigation from chaos golem to be lackluster and it's annoying to keep him summoned at all times, but go for it if you're willing. Every Saturday = National Booze n Poe Day
