LF Feedback on Battle Theme

Yeah, I, with my terrible skills am making an RPG. My good $250 headphones died so I'm currently using some $15 ones. I could use some feedback on the mixing and volume levels. If you want to help watch in 1080p.

thanks.

First of all, I think this sounds awesome. Did you compose that? I think it's really, really good. I mean, REALLY good!

I'm no musical expert and wouldn't know the proper terms, especially in English. But I hope you will understand what I mean anyway. Also, this is just my very subjective opinion, of course.

For me it seems more like the theme song for the whole game and not so much like battle music. For battle music it lacks drama and high-notes. But it establishes a mood very well, and for me this is the strength of the song.

I think you should emphasize that by keeping the melody with the strings in the beginning in the foreground and expand on it, build it up to some sort of climax, adding more and more strings and other instruments, and have the synthi beat in the very background. Also, stress what the piano is doing, the "jazzy" stuff. I think this is really nice.

edit: Or you could keep getting back to the theme and the strings of the beginning throughout the song, like at minute 1:00, and again at the end, each time with more drama and more instruments ..

What kind of RPG are you aiming for? Old J-style where battles took place in a different area as soon as you encountered your enemy, or the western stye ones where you fought shit in real time?
