Unyielding + belt of the deceiver mechanics
My question is on the % reduced Extra Damage from Critical Strikes on both the notable, unyielding, and the unique heavy belt, Belt of the Deceiver.
I want to know if these effects are additive or multiplicative with a mob's crit multiplier. If using both against a mob that has a crit multi of 150%, will i take 100% of the base damage, or 75%? (instead of 150%). Also, on this method of thinking, would powerful crits enemies have just added crit multi or multiplicative? Just seeing if this is an effective method to really decrease the damage of powerful crits/crit rhoas in maps/ I hope that can be easily answered (hopefully with some sort of reference from GGG, as i have yet to see one on this yet) Thanks for any help! My gut feeling is that its additive with an enemies crit multi, but i can dream. |

Not 75%, thats for sure. I'm pretty lazy to look for the items descriptions, but pretty sure they will have the same wording as the notable:
"You take 20% reduced Extra Damage from Critical Strikes" The key word is that you reduce the Extra Damage, not the Crit Damage itself. So a Mob with 100% Damage on normal hits and 150% on crits, you would reduce that extra damage (the 50%) by 20%, and with the notable you would end being hit by 140% of the damage (20% of 50% is 10%). The higher the crit the better the notable and the items you listed. As you would reduce a 200% Hit to 180%, or a 300% Hit (if they exist on mobs) to 260%. So they aren't near as powerful as you seemed to asume at first, but the thing is that the most likely hit to one-hit you is a crit, so its good to reduce those I guess. Also, they may be quite useful for PvP? I have no clue about that, but I'm just going to assume that many PvP builds relay on crit, just like in PvE. Reduced and Increased are always additive.
As the modifier explicitly states, it's a multiplier to the Extra Damage from Crits. Monsters have 130% Crit Mult: 50% Reduced Extra Damage reduces their Crit mult from 130% to 115%. Because it's a Damage Taken modifier, it's multiplicative with enemy Crit Mult. |

so basically, the reduced is most likely more effective the higher the enemy's crit multi is, and you could never take less damage on a crit than your normal damage. interesting. i hope GGG can put something here to affirm this). It's not that i don't believe you are correct, but its always nice to have that assurance)

Pretty sure you won't get GGG confirmation. The wording is really straight forward.
Is like asking if 6% Increased HP increases your HP by 6%, and wanting them to confirm it too. XD Reduced - Extra Damage - from Critical Strikes Last edited by Kaemonarch#7216 on Jul 14, 2015, 5:39:07 AM

You could probably Google for confirmation, it's been stated before. Odds are it was Mark_GGG posting.
