Strange lag spikes - Unplayable
Hey I recently re-downloaded PoE. Last time I played it ran fairly well with the exception of a few desync issues from time to time. After reinstalling I'm now able to connect to the Australian server (yay) of which I have a ping of ~33ms.
Once connected however, I have about 10 seconds of butter smooth game play followed by a few seconds of stuttering where my character is uncontrollable. This cycle repeats itself with the times of smoothness and stuttering varying a little - but on the whole it's making the game unplayable. From what I gathered from general chat I understand I am probably experiencing 'lockstep' so I tried both modes. Neither help my situation. Playing without lockstep smooths out gameplay, but its still plainly obvious that im lagging. Here is a screenshot I took when I experienced a spike. I experience no such spikes on any other online game I play. I downloaded WinMTR and ran it for ~1minute. I did notice one server is at 100% loss and not giving a response. Everything else looks fine. Any help would be greatly appreciated! I have EXACTLY the same problem on EU servers. It's unplayable =/

I'm going through this right now too. Tried Cali and Texas servers and still getting lag spikes. I'm sure its on my end but I have family over right now So I can't try messing with my internet to much. Hopefully it's something simple. Been hyped for this patch for a while now.

I get these too, very frequent as well.

I get the same exact problem!!

Same here. Sometimes it is extended and causes unexpected disconnection after being stuck for 5-10 sec too

Turning off reverb in sound options removed the issue for me, no idea why

" Didn't work for me. | |
This has been happening since I woke up today, but at 3 second intervals, not 10 second intervals. Ping spikes to 1.1k - 1.3k for 2-3 seconds, then smooths for 2-3. Happens with DC/Texas/Cali servers.
No such issues in CS GO, WoW or League of Legends. Lockstep/Predictive makes no difference. I'll try the reverb thing now. Edit: turning reverb off seems to have worked, my biggest spike since the post has been ~145 Edit # 2: hours later, its back and as bad as ever Last edited by innervation on Jul 11, 2015, 10:32:32 PM

I had something similar happening to me, I disabled vsync in-game and forced a fps cap of 60-65 using RivaTuner. This fixes the FPS/Latency spike while using either Lockstep or Predictive mode for me. Using Lockstep now and everything is great.
