What people do on standard to generate wealth and other funsies?

Seems like every standard streamer is running Atziri with a Mjolner build.
It's wealth accumulated over 2+ temp leagues. Don't compare yourself with people who have logged thousands of hours into the game.

You either trade (flip), craft and offer mirror service, or MF until you become braindead. Those are the 3 main ways to generate currency. Pick your poison.

play new temp league, make lots of orbs, buy lots of cheap gear...

go back to standard, play for fun...

play new temp league, make lots of orbs, buy lots of cheap gear...

go back to standard, find you have shitloads of good gear you have outgrown and dont need, start selling it for high prices...

play new temp league, make lots of orbs, buy lots of cheap gear...

go back to standard, find you have even more good gear you have outgrown and dont need, sell it for high prices, make 100s of exalts, but gear worth 100s of exalts...

play temp league, make lots of orbs, buy lots of cheap gear...

and so it goes on.

Rich gets richer, poor gets poorer. All these streamers you watch make up less than ONE PERCENT of the POE standard population. There are players like me, who have played for three years and still trapped with about only 100 exalt worth of stash. Do not be blinded by the wealthy my friend.
How I get exalts in Standard.

I run low and mid level maps WHITE, with no currency added.
(I run all 74 and below maps white, 75 and above blue.)
I pick up ALL currency and save it.
I trade ALL currency for exalts, usually over paying, to have a fast trade.
(Make a party in act 3 merc, "WTS: 50 fuse for your exa".)
I use vendors to trade super low level currency up to alts, 350 gets a fast exault.
I vendor trade jewels up to fuse, others I just accumulate till I have an exalt worth.

Once in a blue moon I find something worth selling, but due to the state of standard, this cannot be counted on to get wealth, at least at the level I play at.

Buy what i need with chaos or exaults.

Yes, I occasionaly run out of maps of the level I want, since I run them all white.
I then buy maps. Buy them from peeps who dont play standard, who are in temp leagues, who have tons of remove only stash tabs in standard filled with maps. Get em cheap that way.

It's not a super fast way to gain exalts, but it works, slow but steady, and you will soon afford a 6l lightning coil.

I want to say wealth isn't equivalent to fun. I know at least one guy who's got so much currency he tries all the new "power" builds, becomes op, goes romping around for a few days, then gets bored. Then he complains about how terrible the game is. Also, it's not necessary to make a ton of currency in game to have fun. I focus the builds I release on youtube specifically for low value gear.

I'd say the toughest challenge there is in game is to play with as few outside items as possible, and make it to the end of merciless and into mapping. This is completely possible, but many people don't try it. This particular play style relies on damage mitigation in creative ways (I'm working on a low cost claw shadow build that uses conversion trap and smoke mine - just leveled into merciless with him at 22 hours according to /played, and that's with a few trades and time standing in town doing nothing.) and magic or rare items (items with say two res instead of three or items with % and flat evasion)

So, to get to it - it depends on what you call fun. If you just want to blast everything without much challenge, that takes a ton of currency, and there's many guides out there that cover atziri viable builds.

But, that's not the path of the exile. That's the path of the gemling. The exile scavenges his gear, and makes due with what comes his way. Pick your path!

I hope you have fun during your stay in Wraeclast!

3 years, 100 ex, you are doing it wrong. Anyone can make 100ex from scratch in less than one month if he is only a bit talented in economics.

This is exactley what I did early on and now I can just buy w/e item I want. You will gain more experience, transition into high lvl maps and currency flow will increase constantly.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6s4xYdr7Qjs this is a guide I made 2 years ago which describes exactly your procedure. The build is outdated but the way to increase wealth is still working.

well, talking in years doesnt rly tell the story I think is the problem here. How many actual hours is that in game? I look at that statement and think "well I have over 10x that amount in less time" but then I look at his character list and my character list and think "ok, I have over 10x as much wealth because I probably have over 10x as many hours played" and then it makes perfect sense.

/played on all my characters that havent been deleted adds up to almost 1 year of actual game time, I know Anuhart has over a years worth of hours logged. But I dont think its humanly possible for anyone to actually have multiple years of time played in this game since the start of open beta when the final wipe took place. If you play 4 hours a week then a 'year' in the game offers a lot less opportunity than someone whos playing 40 hours a week, and in turn someone who plays 80 hours a week.

Obviously how much you throw down the currency sink is another thing, if you are bleeding out 10s of exalts per week on stuff that doesnt actually result in you owning stuff worth 10s of exalts then youll be worse off at the end of the day than someone who doesnt.

Personally I still think its worth trans and aug on maps that are 70+, I feel like those orbs are virtually infinite and even if now and then you get dragged into using a couple of alts on a map the quants will still net you more alts back in return.
