Can someone explain economy/trading/value for money?

There are various nice things in trade chat. But I have no idea what they are worth. One alc orb, 3 fusings, 10 orbs of chance?
I really have no idea how much things are worth. When I enquire about a trade they say: offer and I have no idea what to offer for their quite cool but not
Overwhelming red item.

How do I learn more about the economy and what's worth what?

Should help out on some things.

Also: Watch the trade chat for currency ratios, so you know what currency is worth what. For unique items look at poe.trade, for rare items, stay with poe.trade and don't sell them (You just look up an item you need via poe.trade)

Currency Ratios: For example people spamming WTB alcs 2:1 c, then you know that two alc(Alchemy Orb) are roughly worth 1c (Chaos Orb)
