Rhoa - Natural selection or selective corruption? (beta spoilers)

Based on observing the the penned bird-mounts in Highgate and listening to some dialogue, i believe these animals to be Rhoa. However, they are quite obviously different from the Rhoa players encounter in the wild.

Theory 1: There are two species of Rhoa, the Maraketh Rhoa - which are sleeker with less pronounced spines alone the body and a long tail, and the Wraeclastian Rhoa - stocky, more armoured with a much reduced tail.

Theory 2: The Maraketh variety are true Rhoa, whilst the local variety have been twisted by the corruption.

[Edit]Theory 3: The 'Maraketh Rhoa' isn't actually a rhoa :/

any thoughts on which is more likely/ alternative theory's?

Well, I doubt the spiked ones are really rideable, so either of theory 1 or 2 will make sense.

So we have determined that Theory 3 is unlikely, anyone found any evidence of whether 1 or 2 are the right choice?
