Is Freezing Pulse dead in 2.0? Glacial Cascade have more area, distance, dmg and freezing chance.

The tittle says everything.

Glacial cascade is better in all aspects in 2.0. Compared with freezing pulse, it does have much better dmg progression, overall dmg, Area and distance.

Remember, 2.0 is still in Beta.
If u dont take to consideration support gems and tree, probably. FP is a projectile, while GC is aoe. Different tree and different supports. And GC is hybrid phys/cold spell, which makes cold pen far less effective, than for FP.

Freeze pulse could likely be stronger at point blank, GC does only one hit there.

I agree the roles of those two somewhat overlap currently in application, both are mid-range linear path spells. I suppose they could differ in other aspects, for one, GC doesn't strike me as a very controllable spell, maybe if they lowered crit to 5% and raised damage a bit to compensate, pushing it down to 'maybe crit' group.

4% - not likely
5% - maybe
6% - yes
7% - pointless without
Wish the armchair developers would go back to developing armchairs.

lmp/gmp is no longer as effective,
cold pen will still work 100%.

ggg stated that though the balancing act will be difficult
they are going to try and balance out overall damage to the
spells which they removed the multiple projectile impacts from.

shotgunning will be far less effective due to projectile
impacts, BUT you still get the close range damage increase,
just not on all 3 or 5 projectiles.

I suspect there will be some serious single projectile use.

In the end the only way we can know for sure is to use it with
a bunch of supports and see which ones we like.

FP used to be a less than obvious damage causer. one could not
count on tooltip dps as the true gauge of its power, that still
might be the case.

remember that a single fp could damage multiple enemies in a line,
with lmp/gmp that situation got trumped right up... but without
lmp/gmp being useful, we can still hit multiple targets.

with the damage boosts they have planned, swapping out lmp/gmp for
a a damage boosting support could be seriously deadly to groups
and especially single targeting bosses.

maybe a mob that would die from 2 strikes with the old shotgunned
FP will still die in two strikes. ie: less AOE more dps.
rather than a damaging strike followed by a killing strike,
it would be two low AOE killing strikes in a row clearing the mob.

I will be running fp.

Close range... Biggest weakness of FP. Oh wait... maybe melee FP?
there is no close range damage increase, it's a long range damage decrease.

Longer the distance lowest the damage is. FP damage per strike is already the max on the tooltip :p

It's a "point blank spell"

Also, projectile speed increases the overall damage on the long distance because the decrease in damage is per "time travelled", faster the projectile is futher it goes and... more damage it will do from the same point a to b

so faster projectile is a must, Q20 fp too, and karui ward amulet gives a very big bonus
I will never be good but always I try to improve.
