1 month HC Ball Lightning (non-crit atm, not in depth)

I leveled with Ball Lightning as soon as I got it, it was effective in a 3L with +1 lightning until level 70 when I got a moonsorrow drop, even then I still used it in the Moonsorrow. Vaal Storm Call helps a lot, put echo and lightning penetration on it.



DPS is 4900.
5072 life, 2071 unreserved mana.

tried this to get my 4/4 on the 1mhc, worked pretty well, at about level 70 I found a carcass jack which made it even better (can't afford cod) reflect was scary since the aoe was so huge (only on huge packs like sea witches or monkey, pay attention or you die!)

Hey man,wanna try ball lightning,never tried it before,is life leech with vaal pact mandatory for being refect safe or you just use it for extra safety and what you think about witch start,you would lose 3% cast speed but you would gain acces to 25% mana regen node which is always nice with MoM builds?

Witch start is fine, I went shadow because of the extra cast speed + I wasn't sure if I was going to do wander or something else when I started this league, thought I'd try ball lightning for leveling and ended up sticking with it.

Vaal Pact is really helpful if you want to group. Reflect can be scary solo if you run into a massive pack with reflect or doing beyond maps. Topaz flask helps but in the end you eventually at least want a quality life leech if not just vaal pact with life leech linked.

You can get away without Vaal Pact but you'll have to play slower once your DPS hits around 4000-4500. I didn't get it until I went Pledge of Hands personally.

i have just started this build and doing fire trap / vaal storm call / light. tendrils so far


im now act 3 normal, but my dps feels really low still


my question is: what weapons should i use ?

2x 1h with spell dmg? or crit ? what about a shield


found no info on that and i really dont know what could increase my dps

Any weapon you would use for any other spell is fine. (wand etc)

Why no Eldritch Battery?

I do have Eldritch Battery, if I don't in the build plan its an error o.o

Thanks for showing off your build and grats on your success so far in the 1 month. I have a level 89 tendrils 3 dragons freezer from Bloodlines that I'm playing in HC that also uses a 5L vaal storm call for single target. I'm using 2x vaal storm call + spell echo + lightning pen + conc effect for my setup, but I'm considering swapping my 2nd vaal storm call out for increased duration. Did you find a second vaal storm call to simply be unnecessary considering how quickly it recharges? If you weren't using life leech or had a 6L, would you add a second vaal storm call as your last link?

@PureTrancendence - Conc effect is useless on a Vaal Storm Call as far as I know, it only affects the area that the lightning bolts can see and the explosions when it ends as far as I'm concerned. If you swap anything, swap the conc effect. The bolts during the effect of the skill don't gain damage as they are only hitting 1 target and not an area of effect - at least as far as I know and can see.

I find that a single storm call with increased duration does the job insanely well, sometimes almost too well, when I solo.
