Curses - How to

This should be a guide for all beginners or the one who not put much thought into one of the most important Game Mechanics: CURSES!

1) Why Curse?
you need to curse to get one of the following benefits: a) more DPS b) more survivability c) more fun to play

2) How to Curse?
there are different ways to curse the opponents: a) direct curse b) indirect curse i. through Curse on Hit (CoH) ii. Cast when Damage Taken (CWDT) iii. Cast when Stunned (CWS)

3) Which curse?
that depends on the build and your own gameplay

4) Best indirect Curse Mechanics:
there are some really good Curse Mechanics which are worth to shared with the readers here. These are:
a) Curse on Hit. You put up a 3 or 4 link item with a utility Attack, CoH and your favourite Curse. Everytime you encounter some Mobs you first attack with this utility Attack cursing most of the mobs. Attack should be a multiple targets Attack best. This is the most common and easiest way to curse.
b) Curse on Hit with passive cursing. You need a Herold of your choice or some of the skills Vengeance, Reckoning or Riposte. Put the Curse and CoH together with one or two of these skills and Voila: AutoCurse. Best Setups for this: eg Herold of Ice, Reduced Mana, CoH, Curse.
c) Cast when Damage taken: You need only a 2 link for this, which makes it very affordable. Also for Builds with no Strength Gear (hard to get 4red sockets on any item), this is a good solution. You put a curse into the 4th socket instead of increased Duration. (watch out for correct level of curse though!)
d) Curse on Hit together with Vengeance/Reckoning or Riposte. Autocurse any Attacker (even Ranged Attacker). Very handy.

5) Add Benefit with indirect Cursing: you save some important Mana cuz triggered curses dont use any Mana!

You got more Curse Mechanics to share? Please let us know.
