I tried something similar to this on my marauder, builds that revolve around leap slamming in and sweep/ground slamming will fall off very quickly in act 3 cruel, I'm afraid. :(

Why is that? How can I modify the build to make it more viable end-game?

As said, starting on a3 cruel, it begins to be VERY difficult to go through.
I'm playing sweep/heavy strike/leap templar and a3 cruel gave me a really hard time, doable, but far from faceroll, and now i'm struggling hard in a1 merciless. My stuff is pretty bad tho, i guess with a better one i could manage to do faceroll a1 at least. IGN :
