Possible builds with The Vertex

In a recent trade i was able to put my hands on the Vertex Vaal Mask
What build can make the most out of this item? I have no idea......

Can work well for a low life build, or caster builds like Arc, which springs to mind. The reduced mana cost is quite nice for it and the +1 can do wonders on the Arc gem itself, or Empower if you choose to use that one.

It also mitigates the downside of using these gloves somewhat, making them a good pairing:

How is that supposed to work when it says "Gems IN THIS ITEM"? Or do you just not want to use any 6L or at least 5L?

DOWNSIDES, hes talking about the 80% increased mana cost. Also you generally get more dps with a 4link in a +1gems item than a normal 6link

I know but as I said that only works with that 4L which is an even greater downside.

I really tried to do the math for a few different skills and this is just not true. Think about it, if that were true a 4L with a lvl 3 empower would be as strong as a 12 link. ^^
Besides there are 2h with +1 gemlevel too (and for some setups like srs even with +3).

Allow me to explain myself, since you didn't get it the first time:

1.) The 50% reduced mana cost somewhat offsets the 80% increased downside on voidbringers.

2.) Voidbringers does a lot for your spell crit chance.

This is why it's a solid pairing; often builds that want more crit can't use voidbringers due to mana constraints.

Also, in regards to the 4L being stronger than a 5 or 6L....

Yes, it is. It is also less expensive. The big thing here is that using a +1 all gems item means that this setup's skill gem will always be at least two levels higher than that of a 5 or 6L, using the same gems. This is because we get an extra empower level and an extra level from the item.

Those two extra levels make all the difference, as your base damage gets scaled up, especially for Arc.

Levels aren't as important on certain other spells (ball lightning, incinerate to name a few), and these are usually better supported with added damage. But Arc just needs gem levels.

The trump all here is a 6L corrupted +1 Pledge of Hands OR a +1 6L Cloak of Defiance. (or any +1 6L chest)

Also, using arc on a helm opens up better defensive options (such as using a shield, or a defensive offcolor chest).

Edit: Yes, a +3 staff can get more levels, but you sacrifice a lot of stats from your implement and shield to get those. You also miss out on a lot of spell damage this way.

Would you please explain to me what a defensive offcolor 6L chest would look like?

now find a empower lvl 3 and put it in the vertex with arc, echo and ligthing pen. Voidbringers as one said are good paired with Vertex.
