guild merger not possible?

there were plans to join our guild with another one to have more active members in the new guild while keeping the guild stash tabs of both guilds.

officers and leaders of both guilds agreed on a new name and new leader but support destroyed our hopes by stating that this merger isn't possible if both guilds already made purchases (which guild hasn't?).

my question is: what is preventing this merger?

it basically consists of one guild getting a refund for purchased features which is transferred to the new guild and can be spend after the merger. support already can refund purchased microtransactions for single players so why can't it do the same for guilds?

on a related note: if a guild is abandoned and the leader deletes it, what happens to purchased char slots and stash tabs?

i can accept that procedure if it relates to a player who deletes his account together with his purchases but not in a guild where the stash and member slots purchases are often shared among guild members.

sure, support could help in cases like when the guild leader is kicking everyone and deletes the guild but there should be other procedures for dead guilds.
