Can (How?) you build a 1H/Shield LS Templar w/ a Totem buddy?

So Ive seen some interesting ideas with witches that use arcing/Lightning based totems..and was wondering if you can essentially do with with one of the various 1H/Shield LS Builds that are working so well. Thoughts on HOW you could do this effectively?
