Since there's an unanswered question in this thread I have the answer to, I feel compelled to post it.

Yes, the timer is giving 50 new accounts the opportunity to test each day. Other new codes are being given out in testing as friends invites to active testers.

As for the actual release date, I'd like to think this will be ready when it's finished. Like all indie games, there will be a great deal of time and love put into it before it's done.

I'll be very happy to play it whenever it's ready to be played.

The online nature of this game means it will constantly have new content and updates coming through the pipe! But yes I know what you mean the game looks incredible solid already and by the time GGG feels its ready for release its going to be something special.

This thread looks the goods. So many people that have posted and now have keys.
