Energy shild and elemental resistance

Does elemental resistance affect how much ES damage you take? Basically if you go CI do you need to bother buffing up your elemental resistances? I guess so because it would be a huge advantage otherwise... right?

Resists still matter, yes (Armor also applies). ES would be useless otherwise.
